Oh, Great! I'm left-handed. And right brain dominant. I'm a real mess!

Think about this Right/left brained thing. I only see clockwise motion, and I am the "poster-person" for the right-brained set...spacy, optimistic, thinks overview instead of details, etc. Those like Don and Dave are safely in the middle, with good attention to detail, but still in the sensible creative side. They are in the most versatile, well-adjusted group, with successes in fields requiring either linear or abstract thinking ability. Engineer types only see counter-clockwise activity and think in a linear fashion. Left brainers just can't think abstractly and usually don't get along with or understand abstract philosophers. musicians, advertising creative directors, etc. Extreme right brainers are the most creative and crazy of the lot (think of the most creative scientists, musicians, writers, etc.).

Not sure of the origin of the graphic, but right/left brain theory is a valid, interesting scientific field, used in organizational management to define the problems between, say, a sales force or marketing department and the plant manager, accounting or engineering department.

Knowing that right brainers process information like and prefer Macs, whereas left-brainers think like PC's helps manage different types of people.

Some differences between folks here can even be explained by differences in how we process an apply information.

Chas, you always surprise me in how similar we think. Your awareness and understanding of "right/left" brain issues (an area of concentration in my academic career) is a good example.

Take Wikipedia with a grain 'ary' of salt.

Never has starting an argument been easier than to click the word "edit" on a Web site and rewrite history, science or a current event.

The fact remains that 'anyone' may anonymously add to, subtract or alter existing pieces of information within seconds on Wikipedia. Professors are well aware of the site's nameless authors and as such, most will not accept Wikipedia as a valid source. What does that mean for students, besides the notion they may have to actually do some research?

Personally, I would not rely on Wikipedia as a trusted reliable source for information, regardless of topic. In other words, it is a hit or miss proposition in my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt. I admire your fortitude though Ian.

Best,
Mike

I think being left-handed is a big help in playing RIGHT-HANDED guitar and bass (better strength and speed on the fret-board).
