Sorry, nothing earthshaking to report. I am doggedly going through the features, and am liking the G-70 more all the time. This is not a board where one get read the quick start section and think they have mastered it. I am thoroughly convinced that the G-70 is grossly underrated by many that haven't really taken the time to learn it.

I find the manual to be excellent, and I like the OS better than Korg, but there is a lot there to learn.

Good morning -

Off to sell chemicals all day (music off day) - what a contrast in life

The PA800 is a marvel. It sounds terrific through the PA and is a lively board. The harmonizer adds a whole new dimension. The PADS are really USEFUL and I've found enough great styles to get me going and beyond. The speakers and weight are golden. The OS is easy enough and the touch screen is better than not. I'll take blue, 'cause I like to be different anyway.

I'll say it again - this board allows me to be creative, like never before.

Bernie and I are an example of a switch gone GOOD I'm happy for him.

Thanks for asking Donny.

I am receiving my PA800 this coming weekend and can't wait to see what it can do. I am a little sceptic of the OS. But, since I am familiar with the Korg Triton OS this shouldn't be that harsh.
I watched almost every single demo there is of the Pa800, and so far it is passing with flying colors.

As a 12 year Roland user, I will take my time with the PA800 and then post my likes/dislikes.

@ zuki,
I might need some chemicals to get me through the nights when the pa arrives!

I have industrial strength chemicals, but not that kind you'd want

You'll love the 800...

I'm happy with my part of the transaction, too.
The SD-5 puts me in comfortable territory. I LOVE it when a plan comes together!

Correction,
it's great that the swap has worked out for all 3 of you, sorry, we forgot about Russ, If Russ hadn't offered to swap his G70 for Zuki's Sd5, the good ending may not have eventuated.
Funny how things work out for the best at times.
best wishes

I took the G-70 and my Bose to my band gig where I play with 20 acoustic instruments. I was pointed at by the director to take a solo on all of the songs(20). We do all songs 4 times. 1.all 2.sax section and clarenet 3.Piano or designated player 4.all.

This was due to the great layers created on the G-70,which are essembles created for different sections of the band, depending on who shows up. On the KN7000 and PA800, I would average about 5 or 6.

I sit over on the left, while the brass and woodwinds are on the right. My G-70 and Bose easily balances the sound. Needless to say, I was very proud of my G-70.

Maybe Russ should have taken it out of the box.. ...and maybe Zuki should have forced himself to learn a bit more about the G70..

Oh well!!!!! at least you are happy...and you know why you are..

Jim, I'm not using the SD-5 out yet, but Fran will be enlightened to know that I have opened the case on this one.

My main focus is the C-1 Nord and Electro with my grandson playing drums. 2nd is a trio with me playing guitar and piano with my son playing upright and my grandson on drums. Over in the "Bar" I mentioned that I have decided to make playing arrangers out a low priority right now. Nothing wrong with them, but I'm happiest making other musicians sound good and I revel in that wonderful loose communication on the bandstand where you play off each other, complete with time and key changes, medleys, trading fours, etc.

The SD-5 is GREAT, just not what I'm doing at the moment. Of course, for some jobs, it's the only way to go, and I'll use it when appropriate. I just don't like doing singles.
Luckily, there is enough work to be flexible...a single on nylon string with all instrumentals, a quiet grand piano job...everything up to working with the Philharmonic and a group of 13.

I like variety and, after over 50 years, still LOVE this business!

Forced myself is the operative phrase - no thanks. When comparing the 800 vs the G70 in equal time, I knew without a doubt to go with the 800 (for my needs).
