Can anyone give me a step by step on how to load cakewalk sonar with SD1 and SD2 instrument names and how to use them?

Thanks

Hi Frank,
Do you have the definitions already?

I was going to wait for your answer, but then I thought you would probably already have them.(I can send the def file to you if you need it though)...Okay

1.click options-instruments-define-import

2.navigate to the directory you have your definition file.

3.click on the def file (in your case it could probably be sd1.ins) and then open. This will then display the instruments available in that particular def file.

4.Select the instrument and then okay.
Note that some instruments have a seperate file for the drums and if I remember correctly the SD series do. So this needs to be imported in a seperate operation.

5.Click close and then in the Assign window, ensure you assign all the channels to the now visible instrument. If there is a seperate drum def, you have to assign the drum channel, usually 10 to that def NOT the general instrument def.

You are now ready to use the SD in the tracks of your project.
Hope that helps,
Dennis

Dennis, or anyone, do the old Ketron song-styles work on SD5? I put them on the hd but they won't load, saying file corrupted. I'm wondering if I had a bad download, or if they must be converted.
I seem to remember they worked on SD1 and Midjay, but then, I forget things sometimes. Now where was I?
I also don't remember if I have those SD1 bonus styles.

Frank I have the SD1+ definition file, which I believe will work okay with the SD1 if you want it. As for the SD2 I do not have it, but from memory it is a GM2 sound module which follows that protocol exactly so any GM2 def file should be okay.
what would be the best email address to send them to?
Dennis

Just an edit to add...Maybe Rikki can confirm the SD2 exactly follows the GM2 standard, as she has one.

Hi Don,
Songs should work okay, as apart from some sounds in higher banks, I believe the patch setup in the SD5 is the same as the SD1 and 1+.
I owned the 1+. The only styles I had to convert were the MS series. All others worked okay. Slightly different sounding, but they still worked.
Which bonus styles are you talking about? I think I still have the sd1+ bonus folder somewhere..

Dennis,
Thanks, I think Frank or Dan was asking about the bonus styles on another thread. It made me wonder if I had them. I searched my computer and evidently don't have them.
Thanks,
DonM

Hi Frank,
download SD2 "Utilities" all sorts of stuff for the sd2 including definitions.

Make sure you choose English, default is in italian.
