Donny,
The 3k has 240 preset styles, the S900 has 305.

The 3k has 80 banks of multi-pads with 4 per bank.

The S900 has 95 banks with 4 per bank.

The new styles are cool...most taken from the Tyros2

Same goes for the multi-pads.

Ian

Also what are your S900 vs 3k thoughts regarding sound quality.......there is a significant difference to my ears as I listened in the store while playing.

Even though the S900 has some new styles, it has lost some of the older ones, particularly in the Country section. For instance, it has no Country Rock (style name). Of course it's a simple thing to just put a few Country Rock styles on the thumb drive or in User memory.
Still, there are maybe a half dozen styles that I used from the Tyros that have diappeared, so be aware that you may have to load a few. I didn't have a 3000 so can't compare to it.
The ones that are there are excellent, and even many of those with the same names are improved.

You're right, Don...a few Country ones are missing as are styles like Heartbeat and Acoustic Ballad...not hard to get the ones that are...all the 3k's styles are available.

The S900's styles are terrific...I still like to "roll my own" but I use quite a few preset ones.

My favorite is still the Bebop style...love Variation D...those trading 4's are a hoot.

Don....yes I noticed that when I was demoing the unit in the store.....I would look thru the style lists and see one I remember from my 3k/T2 days & was surprised that they were a bit different soundsing in a Very Good way for sure....loading the missing ones you needs is simple enough from the T2 or other sources.

I have about 35,000 styles for Yamaha keyboards, many of which have been converted from other keyboards. If there is a specific style you need email me and I'll fire it off to you.

Cheers,

Gary

Has somebody made a listing of the styles that are not on the 3k , s900, T2 that is on the 3k, s900 or T2 then maybe create a folder so this way someone can have the complete collection on a thumb drive or hard drive.....

Micky,

The task would be monumental, and one of the problems associated with this is there are so many styles that have the same name, yet sound very different. For example, I probably have at least three dozen Big Band Fast styles, each of which is quite different from the other. Because of this, I began renaming those third party styles with appropriate song titles, thus the creation of Gig Disks. There is a Data Base program available for downloading that is specifically designed for style files, and another for midi files. If I recall the site is owned by Peter Wierzba and you can access the data bases through PSR Tutorial

Good Luck,

Gary
