PS ... Just before that they played "Big Mamou" by Rhode Island's own "Roomful of Blues" ...

They have quite the history I've seen them a number of times going way back to the late 70s. I had the pleasure of knowing their late trombonist " Porky Cohen."

They lost their trumpet player at age 60, a week or so ago, http://www.projo.com/music/content/lb-enos15_01-15-08_QB8K1CF_v16.13e1d16.html
but in the tradition of "the show must go on" decided that they needed to continue their tour ...

Tony,

I went to school with Greg Piccolo who is no longer with the band.

Greg, was well admired for his musical talents in our high school. He also was class president for a few years as well. The school was always a bit 'clicky' so he and his gang were pretty much invisible to most of the student body. The popularity of the band was always visible. The music was astounding.

Sad to hear, one of their members has passed so suddenly. I was a bit surprised they were still playing at all. We are all entering our senior years now. What a tribute to all the members of the band past and present that this band has survived so many decades with such popularity.

Great music! Nice memories!

Lin, Greg Picolo's well known in RI, there's another article on the band in todays Prov. Journal the link is below. From what I read they just released another album this month called Raisin' a Ruckus

The aricle's writer calls Raisin' their most muscular effort yet.

tony sunday i will try to find time to get set up for samples.thanks for listening. the boogie blues jam used the blues boogie style bass/drums from world music category on e60.
the intro and outro is a capella e60 scat vocal of "blues in the Night" Arlen-Mercer. then boogie piano, organ, harmonica/organ, scat, piano, outro. there was a ton of editing we had to do to get long individual takes of different sounds pieced together so i could showcase several sounds and make it coherent.
a learning experience..good thing my deal was unlimited time for mic swap!
