I agree, Diki, but the problem is that Roland will have to have the same features as the opposition in order to compete.

You can bet they have some idea that Yamaha will increase the power(and tracks) of it's onboard Audio to USB recorder and Korg has the MP3 player already.

Too bad these things weren't options...for example, I don't require the mic input or the vocal harmony for my work...never gets used...but I have to take it, as the SA voices are only on the S900 in that series.

Yep, it is a gamble, but I do hope it works out well for you Cassp.

It's too bad some places don't carry certain arrangers...for example, I have yet to try a PA-800 as my local dealer will not carry them...they just bring Roland and Yamaha arrangers.

Hopefully the E-60 will be the cat's pyjamas.

I don't think this is catchup... No arranger (short of software ones) records more than two tracks, yet. I just think it is Roland cannibalizing their workstation line for the 'WOW!' factor, rather than going back to their roots and figuring out what arranger players REALLY want (or need!).

The Roland-arranger.com 'Suggest New Features' forum http://www.roland-arranger.com/smf/index.php?board=2.0 is a repository of what ACTUAL Roland users want and need, a three year old focus group that Roland could mine for ideas that would resonate with their user base. Do you think there is even ONE person asking for an 8-track recorder in there?? No... you are right. NOT ONE.

Tons of other, less glamorous stuff (and some pretty cool ideas, too!) that would make us happy, but no multi-track audio. Maybe the OCCASIONAL request for an mp3 player, or a two track audio recorder, a la Yamaha, etc., but no DAW requests at all...

They did this before, with OS2's Guitar Mode... Ignored pleas for improvements to navigation, storage and operational parts of the OS, and gave us a feature that NO-ONE asked for, and STILL doesn't work except as a realtime gimmick. Unlike Korg, Roland never bothered to figure out that this is going into an ARRANGER. We are going to want to use it primarily to get better guitar ACCOMPANIMENT, not as a solo feature.

Morons...

I don't have an E60, but I borrowed HankB's E50 last night. I had some left-over G70 User Programs and was able to use some of them, pluse all the styles from G70.
I took it to the job and used it all night.
I got nothing but WOW's from the audience.
They loved the sound. I wish it had a vocal processor/harmonizer and a few other things (such as break/fill, multipads, text file capability). It sounds great, is small and lightweight. Some of you wouldn't like the key feel, but it's perfect for me--light and responsive.
Just an experiment.
