Jim, After using the S900 I had to ask myself this question –
Why am I limiting myself by using one of the great features, Music Finder, Registrations or Midi Files?
I agree with Gary – I am working with all three, will I am playing a song I can search for the next set up or song.

What has not been said is that if you are thinking of playing some of your favourite styles from the Kn7000 (and in many cases the Technics styles sound better you will not be able to successfully convert them over to Yamaha ).....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!

No you can not use the KN7 styles on a S900 or Tyros2 and sound like a KN7 – but you can tweak them a bit and they are very acceptable. I love the Big Band KN7 styles, I am using them in my S900, they have a Yamaha flavor.

To Bruno123...

John - Yes, I imagine that I'd use all 3. I currently use MIDI, MP3 and Registrations, all 3 of these, on the KN-7000. I typically
get fairly "deep" once I choose a keyboard. I have added all kinds of stuff to my KN-7000 to get the kind of control I want - like a Peavey PC-1600x MIDI commander to call up registrations with one button press - and an external 2-1/2 octave MIDI controller as an "upper manual", and MIDI pedals for pedal playing (like an organ) - so my KN has become a centerpiece of a fairly complex rig.

I'd hope to eventually do the same with a Yamaha . . .

Thanks again,
Jim

In reference to converting KN7000 styles, I don't know about Yamaha, but my EMC Stylworks XT does a superb job in converting to my PA800. I rarely have to tweak anything.

I believe all of the KN7000 styles have been converted, tweeked, tuned and actually sound better than the orriginals. I'll have to check the archives to see if I have them, and if they are in my files I'll be more than happy to email them to you.

Jim, After 14 years of being with Technics changing to Yamaha was a nightmare. Like you I knew every section and style, I was comfortable. But, there is no future with Technics and technology is moving on. At some point I had to make the move – I sold my KN7 – I missed it so much I bought another one. Sold that one also. A few regrets but the S900 and Tyros2 offers so much that I am happy with the change.
Boy, people hate change.
