Anyone have any suggestion(s) for good light(s) to use for doing a solo k/board show? I would like something simple and inexpensive?

Right now, some of the lighting companies are starting to come out with LED PAR cans. These have several VERY important advantages, IMO.

Firstly, one can can do many colors (they have red, green and blue LED's, like a TV, so can make almost any color), so one can behind and two in front (or whatever your budget allows) can give the effect of a MUCH larger show.

Secondly, they give off no heat, so, although they aren't quite as bright as say a PAR64 can, you can bring them in very close (which most rooms dictate, anyway!) without frying yourself...

Thirdly, the bulbs last about 100,000 hours, basically, forever!

And finally, they draw next to no current, so you don't have to worry about separate power circuits (or even legs!) and your lights 'browning out' your PA or even your keyboard! (And 'green' technology is a good thing, too!)

American DJ has a good selection, take a look...

(Disclaimer.... I don't have a set yet, but have seen them in action, and am considering them to replace our light show next year).

Bought a couple of Chauvet CH-158's a couple of weeks ago, with an optional footswitch. Works great for a single. Lights were about $39.95 each, and the foot controller was $24.95.

Musicians friend had a few left, but they're discontinuing them.

Check them, out. I'm using one tonite for one of the jobs.

Ask yourself this .....are these lights going to make me more money?....do I want to carry even more junk with me to set up as a OMB? I certainly dont ....think about it before you jump.

All the gigs I play (solo) are in bright light. Have the time, I can't even read my screen!

Depends on the venue I suppose.

I have two 12 foot blue rope lights that are sound activated and can be connected to each other. The light is always lit, but they move
at different speeds depending on the intensity
of the music. The sound activator has adjustable sensitivity. I never got around
to using them, so they are still brand new in their sealed packages. PM me if interested.
