Hi!

I've owned my 9000Pro some weeks now, and I have now an internal harddisk in the keyboard.

Something strange happens: I have chosen the correct path for my styles with the Disk Direct popup-function (a folder with 204 styles in it), but when I choose a registration which use one of these styles (or push the Disk Direct button - the first time after I've turned the power on), it takes 2-3 minutes before I can do anything (except from playing with the instruments selected before) on the keyboard. In this "break", the keyboard locks (Disk In Use lights and I hear sounds from the harddisk), I can't change instruments or anything else. When the keyboard finally finds the style (it finds the right style from the right directory), everything is ok, but, again, it takes 2-3 minutes. Is this normal?

The same thing happens when i push the different Song File Directory buttons (I have registered different folders for each button).

Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Is the harddisk not good enough? (It's quite normal, a standard laptop harddisk, 10 GB).

Have a nice day! :-)

Regards,
Thomas

Thomas...

Accessing Disk Direct the first time after you power up does take a minute or so (I haven't timed it exactly.)

Changing song file directories does not take anywhere near as long, but it does take a little longer than just changing registrations.

I believe what you are experiencing is normal.

Hi! :-)

Thank you for helping me out here... :-)

I'm sorry, but I've just timed the happening, and it takes 5 minutes!

Any idea of what this can be?

I think it's quite a long time...

Thomas

Thomas...
That does seem unusually long. Suggest you go to www.yahoo-psr-styles and look up Vince Cochran. He knows more about Hard Drives for PSRs than anyone I know. You can also Email him direct at: vince_cochran@psrmidi.fsnet.co.uk
He is in Wales and a heck of a nice guy.

Hi Thomas

9K key boards can administer only 8 GB

it 4x 2GB created in HD 00 - HD 01 - HD 02 and HD 03

The fixed disk is in any case too slowly

Attempts times a CHACK DISK

MENU DISK/SCSI

Press button I = CHACK DISK gropes

With key C on |2| HD

With tracers 3 or 4 a partition selects

1x NEXT ONE with PAGE CONTROL

all 4 partitions to check leave.

if that does not help

BACK UP and Save to Disk make

All data protect

Afterwards totally RESETS

DSP(4~7) + SLOW/FAST + EXIT hold down and 9K switch on

Key board becomes completely Initialize
Afterwards Restore and load From disk

BackUp - Restore - Save to Disk - Load from Disk - Instructions as PDF ( English ) here

Hi, Robby! :-)

Guess what...! I tried what you told me, initialized the keyboard, and copied the backup back... The first time (before I turned the keyboard off again to test the changes...) everything was ok, it was fast to change directories and so on... But after restarting the keyboard - when I chose a registration with a harddisk-style - it's all back... 5 minutes is passed now, and the keyboard is still looking for the styles... Strange. Maybe it's something with the harddisk? No, then it shouldn't have worked just before... Hmmm...

Thank you, anyway, I'm going to try your tips once more... :-)

Thomas

Hi! :-)

I've noticed the following:

Everytime I do a reset (either by holding down the DEMObutton when I'm turning the keyboard on - or holding down the DSP-SlowFast-Exit), the keyboard acts normal. I set up the Disk Direct, and the keyboard finds the content in the folder immidiately.

But then, when I turn off the power - The next time I start the keyboard: When I choose to press the Disk Direct, the harddisk uses 5 minutes!

Does anyone have any explanations for this?

Thomas

Hi, everyone! :-)

I've found the following solution to my harddisk problem:

When the keyboard is started up, I don't press the Disk Direct button, but the DIRECT ACCESS - THEN the Disk Direct. Then I choose my folder... Then I can use my styles...

Otherwise, it takes 5 minutes to "load" or something...

But, of course, it is not supposed to be this way, I guess... I don't think the harddisk is the issue, or?

:-)

Thomas

Hi Thomas

Why DIRECT ACCESS and then DISK DIRECT?

Press DISK DIRECT

Press button 6 = POP UP

Is a Floppy-Disk in the drive?

Even if can come to delays. But not 3 - 5 min.

Remove your fixed disk nevertheless once and see after whether the Pinn are correctly Put in.

Or be written the designation of your fixed disk.

Or take times Kontackt on with Oliver Schwarz that is which one that the USB interface for K9 invented.

This man knows himself with fixed disks very well out!

Good Luck
