Hi! On the internet it says that the Roland VA-76 V-Arranger has like 3700 sounds on it. I just have the basics one. Piano, brass, strings, guitar, organ, reed, pipe and all that..what about the rest? what about the effects.. ? where is all that stuff ??? Please help me and assist me ! I own it and i'm pissed

I remember when the VA-76 came out that there was a mentioning of that.
I don't remember whether they were in some weired hidden submenu or extra sonds on an external storage device.

What I do remember was that most sounds are taken from older boards for those who wanted to keep them.
Therefore not as good as the newer VA-76 sounds.

I know that George Kay wrote about it once.
Maybe he'll answer you when he is back at the store on monday.

there are 4 banks[groups] of sounds..

1/ sc55

2/ g800

3/ g1000

4/ Va

It could be that they're including 480XG and 128GM sounds hidden somewhere for playback of MIDI files.

The (4) groups are called "maps". You have to access them from the menu page. There are indeed that many sounds IN the VA and a lot of nice ones

In the UK this would be taken to mean you're drunk!

With G 70 you have to activate an extended sound mode. In factor settings there is only a "best selection" activated.

all Keyboards have 'Super tones'. But the VA76 has an extra button for this. Please fill it with your own feeling!

I think that tomorrow afternoon i'm gonna lick my Roland VA-76 on it's ribbon controller - maybe i'll get some ideas about the hidden submenus where the tiny little sounds are hiding.

On the page that shows what current style and sound you are using, there is a box on the bottom left hand side of the screen that says "variations". Click on that and you will find your maps.

i know about the variations but there's not all the sounds...there are many many effects...and stuff...it's the thing with the bank or something.. (

isn't there a list with all the sounds in the whole keyboard ?

there is a sound list. VA7 manual it starts at page 216. I kept a copy before I sold mine. Check your VA76 manual. Should be there somewhere.

It seems like you have had limited experiences with equipment..Would I be correct?

I'm 17 - I'm in 11th grade. Came in the US 1 year ago. Born in europe. I've been playing the piano since i was 6. The roland va-76 arranger is the first professional arranger i've ever had. I played 16 years on the piano - and now, in the US I have the va-76. I bought it because my friend has one and i know what he can do with it. He's really good. He's 30. I e-mailed you 2 minutes ago. I will read the roland's manual but i'm lazy and that's why i'm asking you guys.

From pages 37 to 42 of VA-76 Owner's Manual:
- press Tone icon of Main screen
- in the lower-left side of display you can find a Map icon; press it and a window will be opened where you can select one of the four tone maps
- press Back icon to go back to Tone window; the current map is shown in the upper-center part of the screen
- scroll the ones and/or their variations and you will discover how many they are
A complete list of the tones (sorted on maps) is available in pages 222 to 232 of VA-76 Owner's Manual.

Sometimes it is okay , finding a reason for such post, and age is a legitimate reason..

The "Maps" 1-4 that you can select are same as the "Groups" that Fran was talking about.

nothing was rude - i'm struggling to find the MAPS and SOUNDS ! Fran, I'll buy the Zip this week - is that okay ? I'll email you to tell me how to mail it because i barely know. I never sent a thing like that before and please tell me how. You guys, help me fnd the Maps because i'm eroding.

Please tell me how to select the "screaming" sound on the roland va-76 - i'm presing on the 4 maps available over and over and nothing changes - everything sounds the same even if i press map1 - map2 - map3 - and map 4 - nothing changes..do i have to press anything else after i press the tone map ? how do i select the screaming or laughing or car engine sounds ?? it's not on the "group" buttons ( 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8) it's not there...where are they ?! I am really hurt. Please help me...I might return my va-76 = I even read the book - on the " selecting different tone maps" at page 41 - and I DON'T GET IT - I CAN'T FIND THE SOUNDS. If i won't find the sounds in like ..42 hours i'll return it....thanks...best wishes ! I am starting to hate this thing.

I believe your screaming, etc sounds are in one of the default banks "fx". These are actually really powerful too.

I was referring to claudiu. I see everyone answering with legit questions and all the responses are just flat out.................rude. I mean, it is only a keyboard, people are trying to help, and it seems that instead of listening to you folks or reading the manual he is just pushing buttons and freaking out. But then I got to remember how it was at 17.........if I can remember that far back ;-)

On 2nd thought I take that back. I have no reason to call a confused and excited person who, judging from the times of the posts, has not really sat down and read the manual, rude. I am sorry. I know how it is with a new toy.............................

Alot of the sounds in map 2 and 3 are the same which is silly. 3500 different sounding sounds?.....hell no!

have you checked variations? Tone variations! each sound, for example: B32 it has like 41 variations.
in Roland arrangers sounds are placed in MAPS 1-4, than banks A1-8, B1-8 than numbers 1-8 than variations. Also in G-1000/em-200 and older there are groups instead of maps but they are also maps:

VA76 | G1000
|
Map 4 Group A,B | doesn't exist
Map 3 Group A,B | Group A,B
Map 2 Group A,B | Group C,D
Map 1 Group A,B | Group E,F
