I just used my new EV sxa100 speaker for the 1st time last night. After I played my first set about an hour long I felt the back of the speaker where the heat sink is to feel how hot it would get. It was very hot I could hardly hold my hand on it. I would like to know if this is normal after one hour of use.
I do have it on a speaker stand and the hall was air conditioned. It worked fine all night I was just concerned about how hot it should get.

Those heat sinks are designed to take the heat OUT of the amp area, so I am sure it's normal. It dissapates fast, and I never have trouble during tear down. Just be careful right after the show .... let it cool for a few minutes before you touch it.

rbmusic: I also own a pair of EVSx100's and experience the same thing. I concur with UD that this is completely normal.
My speaker's fins cool down 'to the touch' very quickly (within a few minutes) and has never posed a problem for me when packing up at the end of the gig.

(...in any case, should you get a craving for hard boiled eggs, all you need are the eggs...)
