The infamous BrickBoo is plannng to stop through here (Shreveport/Bossier City, LA area) sometime in April. I KNOW HankB, SemiLive Bill and I will be jamming somewhere.
Maybe Riceroni from Texarkana, Joe Richards from Arkansas, and some of others might want to plan to come.
This is all very in-exact right now. It just popped into my head. We have plenty of keyboards and pa gear though. It would be easy to do. Any interest?

I'm in. Of course, I'm here! I play a kazoo better than my psr2000 but I can fake it okay and then enjoy you experts. Can I bring my guitar?

Put me down as a member of the audience. Please keep me posted as the actual date, time and place for this long-delayed event
approaches. This sounds like such an enjoyable event. I'll even try to drag Hackworth along. Yippee!

When is the actual date? The only slot I have open is the 13 through the 17, but even this could change. I just looked at the calendar and those are the only days open during the entire month. Damned, I need a break.

Don,
We could get together when I come through maybe earlier and then while I'm in New Orleans, I'm sure my Brother would be able to drive up with me and meet you guys and we could do it again. I usually stay 3 or 4 weeks when I come. It a possibility.
I'll check it out.

Yeah but the PA system really sucks. No matter how good you are, you end up sounding like William Hung.

Hey: How did this important subject get bumped down to the third page? The famous Shreveport/Bossier City Jam deserves front-page attention.

Any news yet, Don?

Well, I'm waiting to here something definite from Boo. There seems to be quite a bit of interest.
Easter is the 16th, so that weekend is out.
The previous weekend (7, 8, 9th) would be best for me, but the last two would be o.k. also.

9, 10 and 11 would be perfect for me. That's Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. I'm working at an American Legion Friday, the 7th. I'll be totally empty, at least so far, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
It will be easy to get a place to jam any of those days. The place would depend on how many are coming. As a matter of fact, it would be all right for anybody that wanted to come to the thing Friday night as well.
Whoever plans to come please let me know as soon as possible.

Anytime April 9, 10, 11 is best for me. I am 90% positive I am booking a party on Saturday, April 8. Having the jam on a Friday or Saturday is tough as it competes with gigs.

Don,

I will be returning from my spring break in beautiful Gallup New Mexico on the 8th of April. I am also the choir director at my Church so I can't be gone for Easter. That leaves the last two weeks in April for me. Please do whatever works best for you and the rest of the group.

Just talked to Gary D and he booked a big party for the weekend of the 9th. So it seems he won't be coming at all.
How is the last weekend in April?
Saturday, Sunday, Monday would be 29, 30, and May 1st.
Boo?
Eddie?
Tom?
Rice?
Joe?

Friends, I was planning on heading to New Orleans around the 1st of April.

Don would this work? You me Hank and our guitar buddy around the time I get there and anyone else who wants to come. It's been taking two days to get to your place, so the 3rd or 4th is possible.

Then at the end of the month we could get together again on my way home or maybe I can make a trip up to Shreveport from New Orleans anytime.

If I’m just going to play sax no problem. If I’m going to do a little keyboard and vocals, I can only work with my i30. I wouldn’t be able to handle another keyboard yet. Whatever works!

Let’s talk some more and figure a bit more. OK?

Sounds good. Let's plan the main get-to-gether for the last weekend in April. Boo, you can stop by also on your way down.
Does that work?

I must have a defective calendar. It left off April 31st.

I work Saturday. Sunday would be a travel day, so I doubt I could be until Monday. But..its still a possibility.

Don,

If I leave on the 6th and get to your place on the 7th, would that work for us to gig that night? Or if I leave on the 7th and get there on the 8th would that work? If not, you tell me when to get to your place, OK?

Hank and our guitar buddy need to be included for the first stop. I’ve been practicing and I think I can drink with Hank now. And you should hear me play after a case of beer! WOW!!!

I'm so sorry I can't remember the real friendly easy going Guitar player's name. I hate my memory. That's why I need to type the lyrics out with the chords on the top of the lyrics for every song. If not, I can only do 5 vocals and I still mess up the lyrics. Ha! Ha!

OK! The main event baring any unforeseen occurrence will be the last weekend of April. If we could schedule a crawfish-eating contest also and everybody put up some money I might could win and have all my expenses paid with the winnings! What about it?

I have made arrangements with the American Legion on Cross Lake in Shreveport for us to use their facility Sunday and/or Monday.
I suggest we plan on Sunday evening for sure. Then we can decide on Monday.
I know that Rice, Tom, Hank, Semilive and Boo are coming for sure. There are some other tentatives that I expect to hear from, including Vince Ramos, the Ketron rep from Houston.

Saw in an earlier post that you were heading into New orleans early April.

Are you playing somewhere in the area?

cfcboc,

We're gonna play at an American Legion Hall. Read DonM's post here somewhere on this thread.
I'm sure we'll mention it again.

Don maybe I can bring a couple of McDonalds fish sanwiches for Tom and the other Yankees that may come. It doesn't matter it can also be Wendy's or Burger King's fish sandwiches. My treat.

I think you folks need a real treat--jumbo, Maryland style steamed shrimp steamed with Old Bay Seafood Seasoning. OH YEAH! I'll take them over crawdads every day of the week.

Cheers,

Gary

As for your shrimp, I'll agree with you. But I know people 'round here that go nuts over crawfish. I do like them but once a year is treat enough for me.

If I could bring some Lake Michigan perch or Lake Superior whitefish on the plane with me, I'd show you confererates what good eats really are. Besides that haven't you guys ever heard of that other white meat, beef?

Happy St. Pats day. I'll bet you hillbillys are eating corned crawdad and cabbage.

Hillbillys!

Now wait a minute. That expression is reserved for folks from Kentucky and Arkansas exclusively. If the "revenuers" would look the other way, I might be able to bring a jug of eau de corn for purely medicinal purposes. On second thought, Levenworth would not be a great vacation destination.

Looking forward to seeing all you guys there regardless of your home state... even Texas. Maybe I could persuade Harvey Korman and Tim Conway to join us. They're in Texarkana for the weekend. (Enjoying our very special ambiance and culture.)

All my best, Dave Rice (The Lone Arranger)

In this age of Political Correctness the term hillbillies is no longer used. Instead, this illustrious group of individuals will be referred to as "Mountain Williams".

Bill, If you beg Don Mason or Hank they may allow you to sample a tiny taste of the Old Bay Seafood Seasoning I sent them. Hmmmmmm! Bet it would be great on crawdads too.

Have a great time,

Gary

To be honest, I'm sorta like Bill. I love crawfish a couple of times a year. But it's a lot of trouble to peel 'em and you get all messy. And I don't suck the heads. (That's not as bad as it seems though.)
I do love them fried though. Very much like fried shrimp but with a little extra flavor.
Of course almost anything is good fried.

Sorry but I tried that Old Bay seasoning here in Colorado because I couldn't find Zatarains a few years ago to boil shrimp. Now the Coloradoans stepped up and you can get Zatarains.
Personally the Old Bay does not compare with the Zatarains for the Cajun boiled shrimp taste. That Old Bay is a Yankee thing. Ha! Ha!
Of course I've never had steamed shrimp. I always boil em! Send me a couple of yours’ steamed. I'll be able to make a decision just after two shrimp. The size doesn't matter. Bigger does not taste better. Case in point. All you can get in Colorado is giant King Crab. I don’t throw them in the garbage. I will eat them. But if you had them sitting next to the New Orleans Lake Pnchartrain crabs, I’d let you have the King Crab. I’d have to work harder with the Ponchatrain crabs to peel them but to me it would be worth it. I can peel Shrimp and or Crawfish faster than you can say PRS3000. As a matter of fact I can peel em faster than you can say Yamaha. Ha! Ha!
No offense friend!

Hey man, I'm really sorry for using the term "hillbilly" in my previous post. In fact, y'all should see how remorseful I really am. I feel so bad that I'm going to play a Hank Williams MP3 on this here comeputer contrapsion.

A.J. It's too hard for working musicians to get off on Saturday.
DanO: The main event is Sunday, April 30. I know some are coming earlier and some will stay for Monday. The main Jam will be Sunday.
Dreamer: I haven't reached James yet. I called and he is out of town. He could play a cigar box with rubber bands on it and make it sound good!

Monday has been added for the gigging musicians or those who will be busy on Saturday. You'll have to call in advance and confirm you'll be coming for this date. I have just modified my flight plans to depart Jacksonville on Tue. instead!

See modified text above.

Thanks,
AJ

AJ:

Jacksonville is a bit of a stretch for a poverty stricken songwriter but I sure hope you'll be able to join us at the semi-jam.

Just in case some of the attendees need to attend Mass or Church on Sunday evening, Grandfather Mason can quickly become "Father O'Mason" and turn his collar around to hear your confession. If you're involved in music and/or keyboards (especially arrangers) your sins are bound to be many! (O'Rice included!)

Hope to see you there. Bring an extra napkin or two for cleaning up after devouring mudbugs.

All my best,

Dave Rice

I'm wanting to set up a bank account where any of you guys that are interested can donate money to a fund for acquiring plane tickets for Fran's girls to come to the Semi-Jam in Shreveport. Act soon! It’s getting late. You can wire transfer the money through Western Union to Boo Hargis please just send small amounts of $5000 or less.
Don’t tell Western Union , the FBI or the IRS what the money is for OK.

Boo:

The check is in the mail. (If you believe that, I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn!)

Just taking this opportunity to "bump" this topic back to the front page where an important event like this belongs.

I just talked with Joe Lee Richards from Arkansas. He will be video taping and recording the jam and copies will be available for anyone who wants one!
I'll be back from Oklahoma tonight and try to post a link to the map tomorrow sometime.
Grandson Maddox Jack Mason is doing great. He is already known as "Mad Jack".

Thanks so much Don. If my job would let me go I really would consider doing it. Californian weather is so gloomy here at present I'd be happy to travel interstate as it could only improve.
