You can contact me or Scott for info on how it may still be possible to find the styles on the internet.

Eric B.....The styles may be downloaded from Yamaha,,,but have noticed the very high price. Who is going to pay that sort of money $10 US or £5 UK for just one style.

It's $10 per batch not per style, and that is reasonable.

In the UK the Session Styles as they are called, are sold on a floppy containing 8 styles at £40 pounds .
This works out at £5 per style.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the offer, but I do have those styles. I got them when it was still possible.

I posted the site, because I thought it's at least a start (from Yamaha)
We'll see.

A little off topic, but are you aware that you can easily make the built-in styles sound a lot different from the original (in PSR2000 and others).

I'm not speaking about the Style Creator, but simply replacing part-voices (and even drumkit) by using the Mixing Console (Style Part), or using the Channel On/Of button.

And further more, you can save these changes/settings in registration memory, for easy recalling!

jumped from $9.99 to $49.99.
What a joke that is !!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure everyone will be rushing to get there order in (NOT)
Yamaha is sure on a roll, they just might
hit bottom one of these day's.
If they haven't already

Oh come on, Yamaha!!!

Yesterday, all these groups of styles were going for $9.99. A bunch of us from the Yamaha-PSR-styles group even commented that was a pretty reasonable price.

Today, the shoot up to $50!!! Give us a break, Yamaha. I guess you are trying to drive everyone back to exchanging them among themselves!

On the Subject of collecting MORE styles: Other than about 10 jazz & latin styles I imported from the Technics KN5000, and customized to included bass & drum (brush) patterns parts only, I now only use about 8 CVP209 & other PSR keyboards when performing on my PSR2000. The majority of the styles I use for my core repetoire of approx 460 songs are all 'internal' to the PSR2000. Over time I've come to realize that it's better (for me) to 'work out the box' and instead, focus more on continuing to improve 'live' keyboard performance: improving chops and vocal delivery. The PSR2000's styles may not have the most flash & 'in your face' pizzaz out there, but they certainly sound great at enhancing (rhythm section) live performance, because they do not 'get in the way' of us, the featured 'live' solo entertainer. Collecting styles can be fun, much like stamp collecting, but after having amasted a huge collection of thousands of arranger styles, I now find that 95% of the styles I 'actually use' (when performing) are the ones 'internal' to the PSR2000 keyboard. I've now shifted my arranger kb priorities to what's most important to me: 'live' arranger KB performance.

So before you shell out $50 bucks for more styles, try to utilize the styles you already have in your kb first. Of course, if you get those CVP209 & other PSR styles (for FREE), that's another story , but that takes away from the point 'I"m trying to make here :

A large part which affects 'how well' a style 'works' with a specific song has to do with 'how' you play the keyboard when you select a given style. REMEMBER: Each style you select will require that you also play the keyboard 'live' (melody, comping, fills, soloing) in the appropriate groove which 'fits' that style.

I was wondering how much difference there is between the CVP 209 styles and the 207.
If anyone knows...

Scott, I agree. I have only about a dozen style that I use in addition to the internal styles. I use 5 or 6 pretty often, the rest very infrequently.

Another point I want make in support of maximizing the use of the internal styles already in your KB, is that the number of styles available on most current arrangers today, probably far outnumber the style possiblities which any 'one' rhythm section musician you might hire to play your gig could play. A 'live' rhythm section might use the same (or similar grooves) to cover a range of tunes. I primarily only use custom styles to fill in for the weaker styles on a specific arranger board. - Scott

Dennis,

the 209 contains all off the styles from the 207, and some additional ones.
Details you could find out downloading the user manual from the CVP207/209. It#s on the Yamaha web site.

Scott,
How did you do this? I have some excellent styles in the 6000 I would like to have in the 9000. You mentioned it when you were here but only briefly touched on the subject, as we were busy jamming. Kindly let me know how to do this and thank you
Best to you

Hi Bebop,

I used 'EMC Styleworks' to convert my fav KN5000 styles to PSR format. I'm not sure if the 'latest version ' of EMC Styleworks supports converting KN6000 format styles to PSR format (yet). Does anyone else here know?

Synthzone member, Fran Carango, is the US distributor of EMC Styleworks. You can contact him at: francarango@nni.com

Hi Scott and all,

I use actually quite a few external styles, to give my music more variety, so I don't have to use the same style maybe 10 times.
Plus some of the styles in the Psr-2000 are quite a bit better than the 9000.

I do agree with Scott a 100% that the styles should be enhancing our performances. If they are to busy, it is almost as if they are performing solo.

Variety in music is one of the main things I like. I like to sound different all the time. I can do that with the style collection that I have now.

Yup - that's why it's important to never let the style be the predominant part of the arrangement. Make the "spice" come from what you do with the "live" voices - it'll be so much more fun for you, and interresting for the listener.

Hi everyone,
Scotty spoke of a few costume styles in the
User Area.
I find that the 2000 is lacking in a good assortment of 3/4 rhythms! So I have several
Waltz Styles of different types & several Country rhythms in there also!
I ask for some 3/4 Styles and a very good friend loaded me up with them. I have 3 or 4 floppy's of them!
All the Best,
Nobby

YamahaStyles wrote a message at Yahoo Yamaha Styles Group
& said they made a few mistakes on there last message, first
gave the wrong link, & a couple of other mistakes namely, prices.
Ha Ha wonder what the next price is going to be?
They said the Built in styles part was done but would be back
up in a few hours.

I've purchased the newest version of EMC, called Styleworks 2000. It does NOT convert Technics 6000/6500 styles. It also does NOT convert Korg pa80 styles. On top of that, the Style Editor functions DO NOT WORK. Apparently, Klaus is still trying to get that function ready. He said it should be done in a few weeks. I would recommend that anyone considering EMC be fully aware of these facts. You may wish to hold onto your old versions instead.

Hi Tom: So then (other than bugs), WHAT new features/enhancements does StyleWorks 2000 offer over the previous version?

It sounds like I'm going to be sticking to my current version 1.6 (V 2.68) of StyleWorks Universal for now. - Scott

None that I can see, yet. And it isn't any more stable, either. Oh wait, the MIDI to style functions have been improved. But I don't use that at all.

Thanks, - Scott

Why not download a demoversion at EMC's
website
http://www.emc-musicsoftware.de/

to see the differences?
But as already said here, all functions don't
look like they are ready yet.
A nice feature is the drag and drop option to
replace the variations etc.
