Mark ... Thank you ...I had forgotten about your set-up ... really neat ... I am in the process of making something real quick and (relatively) easy for my first gig with the 55s on Friday ...
Next I will work on the carpet for the sub ... I just get VERY queasy about drilling into something when I don't know exactly what's on the 'other side' ...

PS BTW ... why the three handles ?!???

Hi Mark

I came across those pics of your set up that I saved just the other day. I really do like that idea for carpeting the sub.

Tony,

Sorry for the delayed response. The middle handle is for carrying with one hand (while carrying something else in the other hand). If I am feeling lazy I can use the outer handles with both hands and just carry the sub by itself. So I guess you could say that the three handles are for balance.

I too was worried about drilling into the sub, particularly for the handles. The 'timber' is only about 15mm thick (9/16"?) so I added another layer of plywood to the top of the box before carpeting. This plywood is glued and screwed. The screws for the plywood, handles and corners are all chosen so that they don't protrude into the sub. It still works so I guess I didn't hit anything.

Mark

Mark ... as Confucious used to say "AH SO ..."

I don't know if you saw my rig in the "Played my first gig/job ..." thread ... as I said, next is the 1/4" plug box, and the carpet...
