Bruce,

That really isn't true. We were told that also about junk mail. We were told that if you click the remove me from your list that it will only invite MORE junk mail because they know that they have a legimate email address. Not true.

When the scammers get bogus information they know you are on to them and they won't send you any more than the automated mailers normally do. The up side is the scammers have gotten their hopes up and wasted a lot of time in the process.

To confirm that an email like this is bogus just pass your mouse cursor over the link in the email ( don't click on it ) and you can see that the link is bogus and is not what it appears to be. Then forward it to spoof@paypal.com and let them track down the crooks.

Someone tried the paypal phishing line on me ... fortunately, I never had an account there so I wasn't 'hooked' ... ...

NEVER use the link in the e-mail ... you cannot be sure where it's actually going to bring you ... Either 'copy and paste' into the address bar, or go to the company's REAL website and contact them direct, preferably by phone ... then you can forward the phish mail to that company's security people ...

If you are using Outlook Express, slide your mouse over the link, and the True address will appear in the bar at the bottom.
Also disable the preview pane so that you only see the headers, and you can then decide if you want to view it or delete it. (Other email programs probably have a similar facility)
