Well, I've owned almost everything,

Roland
G-800
G-1000
EM-2000
G70

Ketron
X1
SD1
Midjay (next week)

Yamaha
PSR8000
Tyros1
Tyros 2 (next week or so) Thanks Dano

Korg
i3
PA80
PA1xpro

I think it's time to save some money for my kid's college fund,

Everytime I buy a keyboard I have buyers remorse,
also everytime I sell one I have sellers remorse,

Just sold the G70, I still have it but it will leave soon,

So this is what I'll miss.

- The incredible key bed, has to be one of the best felling out there.

- The easiest, fastest, midi file player, organizer, selector, adjusting system ever hands down.

- The easiest, streamlined registration saving recalling system around.

- The least hyped, best overall and easiest to use vocalizer and mic pre-amp system.

- At last but not least, the coolest looking board so you can impress the woman ( and some men ) with look.

Stuff that I will not miss from my G70

- Having to defend it on this forum

- the lack of some particular type of styles that seem to be more oriented to a type of music, example. I play in a lot of Italian type gatherings and the authentic waltzes and latin type stuff seems to be off, just a bit, maybe programmed by someone who thinks they know what it should sound like?

- Some sounds are not quite up to what a keyboard of this caliber should be, but with the release of the nex expansion board allot of my gripes will probably be erased and I will kick myself for selling this board.

Now that I think of it, I might not want to sell it again.. damn it I need a drink.

Well I hope the Tyors 2 / Midjay / and PA1xpro will give me what I want.

Later dudes

It probably sounds stupid, like I'm a spoiled brat but,

each keyboard will do a particular thing great. but will lack in other departments.

One keyboard will have incredible live band type styles but will not allow switching to midi file playback fast enough or have an issued with polyphony.

Or midi file playback and switching are great but styles and portablility a problem.

I have said it a couple times on this forum, but the SD1 had probably the closest to what I was looking for in styles, sounds, midi playback, and vocalizer, but its ability for registrations was backward ass, and the fact that you had to go into a midi file playback mode I hated and took too much time. also i had considerable note drop off.

If the new Ketron flagship address these issues, I think we may have a winner.

All these keyboards were great, I'm just looking for the best/

If you like the best possible Drum sounds you may find the Midjay lacking in that department. Check the demos on their web site. I for one found them lackluster.

My personal opinion of course.

Best regards,
Mike

Hey frankieve,

So do you prefer the Pa1X Pro over the G-70? Is the Korg better in your opinion?

I would have to say the PA1xpro has the better overall sound, and size is allot easier.

but the G70 is the easiest to operate.

they are really close, things I hate on the PA I love on the G70 and vice versa.

I don't really think one is leaps above the other but, it's just a hard decicison

Frankieve:

I noticed you're in Milford, Ct. Next time I drive down to visit family in North Jersey (I usually drive thru Milford via I-95) maybe I'll stop in your store. I'd love to have a look at it sounds like a great store.

Frankie, I'll bet the Tyros2 won't be a keeper for you....You better keep an eye out for the new Ketron[or keep your G70]..

Already Sold the G70. I did like the board allot but, there was something that I really couldn't put my finger on that didn't make it a complete keeper.

I do have a Midjay now for my Ketron fix, but your right, I can't wait for the new KEtron flagship. hopefully they have been listening to forums like this.

By the way, what makes you think I'm not going to like the Tyros 2, you are probably thinking the same thing I am ,

Same board, different case, with a couple of extra bells and whistles.

Well the only way for me to findout is to empty the kid's college fund,,,,

That was easy

She's got awhile to go, she's only 15 months old.

So I guess I have allot of equipment to buy,

BTW, the Midjay, is a cool little box.

Ketrons basses and drums are just amazing, there is no hi-fidelety about them, it's that old school fat analog sound with that hint of distortion because of the low sampling rate.

I think it's like that question of is CD better or is Vinyl better
