Hi all,
I picked up a bit of a bargain yesterday (I hope )

Someone I know bought this amp and speaker setup a few years ago and used it twice. Packed it up and stored it away.... until he sold it to me yesterday!

Like I said I know it is a few years old and other than that I know nothing about it. I managed to download a manual from the internet so I am going to peruse that.

I was hoping one of you would know the model at least ? Have set it up with the pro and it is (very) loud and sounds infinately superior to the MS 50's.

The amp model is XR 400B and the speakers are ES-12's??

I got the old digi camera out and took a pic of em for you to see

Thanks for any help
Best to all
Tony W

Tony,

If the rigs in good shape, which from the photo it appears to be, you should be very happy with its performance. I have a friend that plays nearly every night in Baltimore and he uses the same PA/mixer and speakers and a PSR-2000. The sounds that come out are incredible, and the way the five-band equalizer is set in the photo is the same settings he uses. If I recall, he paid about $795 for the combination when it was new about four years ago. I don't know what it would sell for used, but I would hope you did better than that.

Cheers,

Gary

That's good, solid gear. Not the latest or the greatest, but it will give you reliable service for a LONG time. If you have any questions about features or performance ..... email me and I'll answer all your queries !

Peavey gears usually pretty solid. Web sites useful; if you aint got the manual try here: http://www.peavey.com/support/searchmanuals/list/xr400b.cfm

Thanks all for your replies

Gary,
The gear is in excellent shape It looks like it just came from the shop!! I paid £100 (about $160) for the lot incl. a couple of mics and mic stands. (think he bought it as a complete setup orig). Don't think that was too bad a deal

UD,
Thanks for the offer .... will do

MacAllcock,
Thanks for the link but I dowloaded the manual last night. Quite surprised as to how extensive it is!

Thanks again y'all

Tony W ..... $795 four years ago and $160 now?!?!? ... with mics and stands, I would say you got a DEAL ..
Any chance this guy's got other stuff he's trying to unload??? .... Like a slightly used auto???....
I've used Peavey gear a lot over the years and it's always stood up to the rigors of 'one-nighters' ....
Fellas ... Any chance the internals on a rig like this could 'dry up' or anything depending on how and where it was stored? ....

The keyboards they put out a couple few years ago lacked a lot. I was one of the fools that bought one and hardly ever used it.
My pair of KB100/s are well worth the money and do a good job for me. I may have to replace some volume pots soon because they pop pretty good now when adjusting. Strange because my studio is sealed and air conditioned. I guess it is the outside gigs with the smoke and alchohol fumes that gets to them. I don't use either

I've been using Peavey PA gear for many years, being close to the factory. I had a good friend that was sales rep there and I was able to get equipment at cost, but he died a couple of years ago. I have had numerous Peavey PA setups and never had a problem with anything.
My latest Peavey rig is the Escort system, and I have found it excellent for small jobs.
