Dear Members,
I bought a flash RAM expansion chip for my X1 but it does not work. I installed it very carefully as per instructions. But, I get this message on the screen when I try to load patterns " 5 PAT. FLASH WRITE ERR". When I remove the new expansion chip the factory installed flash memory works just fine. Could the dealer have sold me the wrong chip? It fits the slots on the mother board. The chip is an Intel TE28F160. Also printed on the chip is "S570," and "U9140116D".
Thanks,
DVJ

Deatonent,
Your patern FLASH is designed to fit in one direction only. Once you install this, all PATTERNS will be earased from memory and you should be up to 100% with more space. Maybe there was some 'static electricity' when you tried to install chip. Try again (make sure keyboard is OFF and disconnected from mains) and if not working, request for a new chip from dealer. Take care NOT to touch any of the connectors/wires on the board (static electricity from your body may be transfered into circuit board - not too good for system!). When you open the case with the chip, hold at the ends and install firmly into X1. (Prior to opening case, you may want to touch any metal/door knob etc that is properly 'earthed') to releave you of any static electricity you may be carrying.
Hope this helps!
AJ
