Call the guy, and ask for a splight discount, maybe 30 bucks. He very well might say no, because its har to prove it was his mistake. If hes a nice guy he may cut you some slack, its worth a shot.

THANK YOU ALL!!! IT WORKED!!!

Its summertime and I finally had a chance tonight, to take this board apart just like you guys explained it. Sure enough, the tech had forgotten to plug the mic socket back in.

So that's now working thanks to you!

But now I have another probelem which I'll put in on its own thread just in case someone else can help. A few weeks ago, the right speaker suddenly just stopped working. No crackles or pops - just silence. All the wires seem to be intact, so the problem must be either in the circuit board or in the speaker. Does anyone have experience with that?
