I created a midi out of a style on my PSR2100. Playing it back through Cakewalk, I was getting a lot of slow downs and glitches. I suspected my computer, but Cakewalk was playing audio just fine. It turns out the problem was the anemic USB interface on the PSR2100. I changed to midi cables and the midi played fine.

The sysex messages and control changes were too much for the USB to process.

Use midi cables instead of the USB port if you want to do DAW sequencing with your PSR2100. The usb cable really isn't good for much.

It works fine for playing midi files from the laptop through the keyboard. Haven't tried it for anything else.

It does work fine for regular midi files, but for midis made from the keyboard's styles - midis that have a lot of sysex and control change info, the USB hangs while playing from Cakewalk through the keyboard.

It doesn't do this with regular midi cables.

Larry,

Try changing them to type "0" midi files and see if that improves the situation.

Multitrack recording. I'll just use midi cables instead of the usb.
