I have an old YAMAHA SQ 16 that I ´ve been using mainly for playing live, using the sequencer, and for HD recording. Up to now i have only recorded in audio. How can I connect the keyboard to my SOUNDBLASTER LIVE VALUE Soundcard in order to record in MIDI (for example with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 or PCTools 5.0 free)so that i can change the sounds within the PC via soundfonts, etc.? I guess it´s using the Gameport but I´m not too sure. Do I have to pay attention to special specs on this adapter?
I´m really new to all that MIDI stuff so I appreciate a detailed explanation.
Thanx!

Most music stores carry the cable that you need to connect to your pc through the joystick port. There are also USB devices, and plug in cards & boards for every budget. To start with - get the simple cable ($25)
Check your manual for the correct sound set to use for GM - the SQ16 does NOT power up in the GM mode for sequence use. I think it was sound set number 2, if I remember correctly. Double check me on that.
Just remember - "out to in", and "in to out".
