I hope the non-vocal lurkers will jump in on this

I own and love my Tyros 2. I am also always interested in trying every brand that is available. I do keyboards like I vote, I'm an Independant.

As a new owner of a G70 I think I will be using this keyboard for quite some time.

Solton MS-60's, complemented by a new Roland GW-7, a Roland SH 201 and soon a G-70, plus an XB-2 Hammond.

Tyros 2 and a G70. G70 is in the shop for an LCD replacment. If Roland doesn't have them in stock I could wait as long as 5 weeks for one to be shipped from Japan....YIKES!! Which will I keep which will I sell , will I keep both??? Stay tuned............they both have very strong points, I've always loved the T2, but 61 keys hurts. The superior Roland keybed and and 76 keys, and a great live sound! Decisions, decisions

A PSR 2100 for a couple more weeks. Then the S-900. Unfortunately the S-900 will not get played to it's fullest for a few months due to my recent accident. (sigh)
I've been putting off talking about it on the zone but....

Last week Monday, the 25th of June, as I was walking to my car in the morning to head to work, I tripped over a concrete block and fell while holding a ceramic coffee cup in my right hand. Cup shattered cutting my hand up pretty bad.
The 29th I had hand surgery to repair some cut nerves and tendons. Index finger tendons, 2, cut 50% through and nerve also.
Ring finger tendon and nerve cut 90% through.
3 months of PT and hand/arm in cast before I can play keys with it again. And another 9 months after that before I can expect to get feeling back in those two fingers.
But...I am trying hard to keep spirits up and have the S-900 on order through musiciansbuy. I am 2nd on their list of pre-orders.
Jim
PS typing left-handed only is also a pain so I will not be contributing much, even after I receive the new board.
Jim

Wow, that is just horrible. I admire your ability to stay in good spirits. I'm sure that I would be terribly depressed.

Hope you're a fast healer and that things come together quicker than projected.

Tyros 2, Technics KN7000 and Yamaha Motif ES6 workstation. Love them all, but starting to think that three diverse keyboards is perhaps too many!

I'm interested in the s900 but I'll wait and see what the new owners have to say and to see if there is any kinks that need to be worked out.
Right now I am using OMB and an edirol controller, I must say these new controllers have a better feel than in the past. I tried one a couple years ago and it felt like a toy now they say they are building them as instruments not computer peripherals, and I agree.
But my feeling is with an s900 I can pack up the laptop, the mixer, the effects, the amp and speakers and the recorder. Of course I am talking about home use.

Hi Keith B .. very similar to my setup, only exchange KN7000 with MZ2000 or PA80. I was thinking of letting 1 or 2 of these go myself ( not the T2 or MZ though ) but I kinda like each one for what it is. Maybe if the G70 or E80 really gets to me ( I need more time with them ).. I would possibly consider parting with my PA80 and / or Motif ES, but even those I still like a lot.

The T2 is a keeper for many reasons, too many to list here. I also really have a soft spot for the MZ. It has sliders.. Mmmmmm....... Me like... sliders...lol. The preset styles in it pretty much range from kinda bad to absolutely awful, but it functions rather nicely on it's own as a synth, with beautiful Organ, Sax, and Rhodes sounds along with really nasty / crude / rough sounding electric guitars that only my best VSTi's can match, and a nice palette of rather ordinary synth patches that can be made very juicy and edgy with surprisngly deep but also very easy to access patch editing and effects. It also has sliders..Did I mention that I like sliders ? I love analog feeling stuff, even if it's connected to a digital machine.

AJ

I would consider another board like the E60 if it had a vocal channel...mic input, vocal effects. I've considered the g 70 or e 80 but I'll probably not use it enough to justify it.

I sold my kn7000 over a year ago. Bought the PA1XPRO, and most recently, the PA800.

B-4 deciding on the PA800, I drove 120 miles to re-demo the G70 (due to the recent popularity and re-birth discussed here) and to try the new E-80 just to make sure. They were fine, but`came back to the 800 because it had that "Oh my God" sound.

Why does everyone assume there will be a T3?
Tyros is dated now .....Yamaha is currently working on designs & ideas beyond Tyros.

Donny, I disagree in that it seems to me everyone is pretty happy, but I have not seen any "my keyboard is better etc."
This thread has been very to the point imo,
with little if any slamming going on.
Very professional and hopefully continues.
Please, lets all leave the hornets nest alone.

One of my favorites too, Zuki. But...no one sings it like good ol' Satchmo does. ('does' for legends live forever) My second favorite rendition is the one by Zuki. Relative of yours?

Now back on topic. I'm interested in the Roland G70 and Ketron Audya but it'll be a while before I get either one of them. In the end I might end up with some other brand or model, who knows.

Interesting question !!
With my DA200 concerto or Elkavox 83 midi accordions i have the following set ups (far too many )
Technics smac1200 ,kn7000 , gem XP expander and Tyros 2 .

they are all good !
but i have to say for me I like the Technics brand best of all mainly for one reason :- The Gem and Yamaha are very poor in song specific styles !! ie glenn miller genre with all the correct intros/endings

It's not only the miller styles it's song specific style complete across the spectrum .

If you folks know where all the song specific styles are for Yamaha and Gem please let me know !!!as I've had not real luck searching for them !!!

Technics did such a good job with the styles library via technote in the Uk .
I'm sorry to say trying to convert successfully to the other two brand leaves a lot to be desired !! not good enough to gig !!

Regards .............Giovanni

Try this german online shop:

d-o-o

They have plenty of song specific styles for Yamaha and other brands - also a few ones for the Genesys. A search for Miller gave six results.

Kind regards,
Tommy

Still happy as a sand-boy with my G70, with only the Chord Sequencer omission as fly in the ointment, the sand in the vaseline...

Until they bring a G-series out with this in it, I don't see the necessity of changing. I might add a MotifXS rack to the rig, or possibly a used rack K2500R, but I could gig for the rest of my life on the G70 if I HAD to!

Believe it or not I'm starting to feel the same way about the SD1+.....the more I sink my teeth into it the more I enjoy playing it. Im not ruling out something else in the future Id be stupid to not leave an avenue open for progress...buy I am very content at the moment....it serves all my needs.

Hi,
me too. ( except in my case it's a PSR1500 & a Ketron SD1+, not a T2).
So many styles available for BIAB & the new Real Drums sound great.
I'm slowly converting the BIAB songs to midifile format & using them in Powertracks 12 which now also plays the "Real Drums".

I'll check out the Audya when it arrives.
Had a quick look look at the Roland E80 & Korg PA800, but they didn't have enough Wow factor for me to to get hubby to part with his hard earned cash ( haa haa).
He sent me off shopping & I came back empty handed. I must have been having a bad , bad day.

If I decide to stick with BIAB, I may just get a decent synth workstation.
best wishes
Rikki

Currently PSR3000. Would upgrade to S900 if the PSR blew up. Haven't played one yet to see whether it will force my hand to jump earlier!
