Does anyone know how the genesys really works with the CD ?

Are all available styles on the CD and have to be loaded to have access ?

Can you play a midi sequence directly off the CD ?

BTW ......I will get a chance to see this keyboard next week at Summer NAMM .

Is GEM using audio loops to compensate for lack of quality of sound in the earlier models ?
dano

I will also see the KN7000 as well .

Please give the forum readers a run down on what you see/hear at summer NAMM, especially (for me) the new KN7000. Thanks.

Well, I guess I would be the right guy to answer that

No. The Genesys uses a flash ram for all data; sounds, styles etc. The CD which comes with the unit contains the o.s plus all the sounds and all the styles, (these are already pre-installed but you might want to check in case the supplied CD contains newer stuff). Once installed, you can remove the CD and everything remains in the memory and can be used like any other keyboard

Yes. The SONG PLAYER section allows songs, (Midifiles, MP3s, WAVES, CD Audio tracks) to be played direct from hard disk, floppy, CD or SCSI devices.

The Genesys has a completely new sound and style library. Some sounds from previous models have been included for backwards compatibility but these are not the principal sounds of the Genesys. Everything is new; pianos, horns, strings, organs, drumkits etc. The new sounds and styles have been a collaborative project between Generalmusic Labs and Solton, (GM's distributor in Germany).

See you soon.
Chris

The Genesys looks really interesting...

There are some really nice features built into this unit. But at almost 60LBs! It wouldn't be a unit I would use day after day on stage to carry and set up. I could see it in a studio setting for sure. I like the sliders alot.
