I have just been informed of a K2500S, brand new for 2000 dollars. I was thinking of getting a Triton. How do these two stack up?
How does K2500 compare to K2600? Is a K2500 still worth it, will they be discontinued anytime soon?

Hi,

I think $2000.00 for a new K2500S is way too much. I paid $1399.00 for a new K2500RS (included free $299.00 CD) more than a month ago. New K2500S's were selling for $1699.00. Go to
(http://sonikmatter.com/k2000)>Forums>K2000/K2500/K2600 and check out several long posts by me under "Kurzweil sale"-last post 1/24/01. One guy was offered a new K2500S for $1500.00, then paid $799.00 for a new K2500X.

Good luck,

Hi,
Well as a newbie I don't need all the bells and whistles of a K2600S so I haven't checked prices on it. However others have posted on Sonikmatter of locating it for $2400.00 from Musician's Gear in Germany. However Young Chang America does not honor warranties from Young Chang Europe.
What might be interesing might be exploring buying it in Korea where somone posted they had picked up a new K2600 for $2400. I wonder whether Young Chang America would refuse to honor a warranty issued by the parent company Young Chang Korea. That would be like Mercedes Benz of America refusing to honor a warranty of Mercedes Benz of Germany.

Happy shopping.

I'd forget about any spectacular deals on the K2600S in the USA for now. I've seen the basic K2600 selling for as low as $3600.00 in the US, but that's without sampling option. The K2600 is the latest version. The sales here are on the previous models K2000, K2500, etc. However wait a year or two and you can probably pick up a K2600S with it's ancient DOS floppy disks, and ancient SCSI interface ( I do have a SCSI CD burner, and it works nicely but SCSI is ancient, and DOS floppy disks-puleeze begone) for $1399.00 or so once the new K3000, or whatever, comes out with mLan firewire interface and MACOSX (I hope).
