Sorry to post this in the arranger section folks, but does anyone know what the street price will be for Roland's new Sonic Cell Module?

Thanks guys.., I've heard rumors that it's going to sell for less than $1,000 here in the USA. The SonicCell is a very interesting little box from Roland. I like the idea of using it as a sound module for a computer based setup where the editing software will integrate with other seq. applications. This set up is nice due to the synth editing, and MFX being done through the box rather than bog down your computers CPU.

Any word on the release date for this module?

Again, thanks for the info.

Squeak,

Earlier this year I sold my XV-5050 module in anticipation of the SonicCell being released in June. Because the release was pushed back to September, I sold my remaining 2 SRX cards (World & Ultimate Keyboards), knowing I'll be buying them again after the SonicCell is in my hot little hands! I really like the concept behind this product and after watching the new product video on Roland's site, am even more excited about using this piece of gear, especially in a live performance setting (solo or duo gigs).

I can't wait till it's released!!! I was all set to buy the Fantom, but the SonicCell is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. I love this type of setup as you don't end up bogging down your c'puter as the synth power and MFX load will be handled internally on the module. I'm all phyched now. Fantom based sounds with a load of new samples exclusive to the SonicCell--Yeah Baby......., that's just what I need Plus its got synth power and loads of "good" Roland effects.., top that off with SRX expansion and Sonar..., and BAM! Roland's got another winner. I think the sales for this will be huge. I'll be pre-ordering one for sure! Wahooooooo..., this box is going to be sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Tommy,

Many thanks for the manual link, awesome!!! Just finished reading and I'm extremely impressed as to how much functionality Roland has managed to provide in such a small footprint, including full Patch and Performance editing! Looks like the XV presets that were originally ported over to the Fantom keyboards will also work with the SonicCell, which is fantastic because I actually preferred many of these Patches over the stock Fantom ones. It will be intriguing to hear the new sounds developed for this module. Can't wait!!!

Yeah, this box is going to be freakin hot for sure! I'm all hyped up about it now. I'm taking the extra money I'm saving from "not" having to buy a Fantom X6, and putting that elsewhere. Trying to decide where to pre-order from now.

This is so great, now I don't have to do all those computers upgrades either.. I was going to upgrade my ram, and soundcard, but this little box will handle the high latency workload internally and my puter can stay 6 feet above ground rather than under

I know for sure I'll be buying an SRX expansion board from the top and that will be the SRX-06 "Complete Orchestra". I'll probably add the SRX-01 later down the road. Man I'm just so freaking stoked this thing is under $800.......

I've also decided that I will be buying a PSR-S-700 as well. I'm going to put it on a very nice stand and keep it in the living room.

Ahhhhhh sweet music baby!

For those of us with G70's that lament the fact there's only one SRX slot, this could be quite potent... Especially now we have a workaround for addressing ANY external PC#/CC32/00 from the Keyboard Parts...

I think the box is going to be a steal for the price! Two SRX slots instead of one is also a very big plus. Have you guys seen Roland's promo video for this unit? Here's the link: http://rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=897&ParentId=72

It's a good video. They demo a few sounds and explain the features.

Darn Squeak, every time you come up with something, I end up spending money . This thing does look like a must-have, Swiss army knife, for any home or project studio. As far as that low initial price, though; I smell the "Barbie Doll" syndrome. You're not going to be happy 'till you fill those two (expensive) SRX slots. Oh well. Beats leaving it to the grandkids. Besides, at the moment, I'm nearly out of Roland sound sources (an old SC55 and the on-boards in my A70 controller kb) which I have always liked. Cheers.
