Fran, nice work love that Santana feel, great organ changes, very Hammond. ( must be some sand in my ears too)

Don, great guitar work. My favorite is The Way You Do the Things You Do.

Maybe it's the Mp3 encoder... but they sound a bit flanged at my end (MOTU 2408II into Mackie HR824s). But it's also that they are just horrible for the tune (IMO), Quarter notes would have been better, and on a ride, too...

So just exactly what are you actually playing, on this track (the sax one)? Or is that just SMF playback?

Diki, a ride instead of the hi hat...right that would be realistic..Heck of a drummer...playing a snare drum with brushes and a ride cymbal on 16ths or even eights..

I see you are really keen about drums..

Your solution has no merit..

Fran, may I ask you for the backing as well? I'd like to try this on my E-50

Sometimes a wrong sound will be heared in the drumtrack when at the same time two of the same instruments are played. This could be caused by changing instruments in the Make up.
When you change instrument A to B and change
also instrument C to B. You will have a wrong sound when they are played at the same time.
The way to get this double note out is erasing one of them in the Micro Mode.

Fran, you've never seen a drummer use a brush on a ride? (Makes you wonder why every brush kit includes brushed cymbals, doesn't it?) And I think quarter notes would work better...

I don't know about being keen on drummers (usually too sweaty for my tastes!), but I know a bad groove when I hear one... To me, anyway, that track with the sax sounds like the 16th hi-hats were added on as an afterthought, or ought to be so low in the mix that you just barely hear it.

And I'm still waiting to hear whether you PLAYED anything on that track...?

OK, saw your post on roland-arranger... So this is just a commercial SMF that you Makeup Tooled, right. No playing by you at all...?

I opened the file in Cubase... That drum track is a dog (despite how well the G70 managed to get it to sound other than the hi-hats)...! There isn't a single bit of dynamics in the entire track. EVERY single note in the entire thing is a 64 velocity! And HARD quantized to 16ths.

The G70 can sound SO much better when it is fed a track that actually has some dynamics. Not much point in a V-Kit if there is no V-...
