Hi guys. I'm looking to get a good keyboard/workstation and I've kind of narowed it down to the Yamaha EX7 or k2000vp. They are both about the same price and they both have some features the other
doesn't. Which would you guys think is the better overall machine. I do a lot of techno type stuff
(looping samples and synth sounds) and also ambient, rock, and jazz tunes. A good sequencer is a
must and sound quality is the highest priority. A pattern type sequencer that can do live changes on
the fly would be great. Also realtime sound control is also important. Any other segestions would also be welcome. Thanks for all the input!!!!

Hi !

I have a K2000. The good points of the instrument are :
real good sounds
compatibility with a lot of samplers and .wav
very friendly user interface
The bad points :
You have only one effect processor. For example, you can't apply a reverb on a part and some chorus and reverb on an other part in a sequence. In Frensh, we would say it's all or nothing !
The polyphony is not enormous compared to others machines. Fortunately, with one or two layers the sounds are rich anyway.

Bye and good luck for your choice !

Mark,

I am not familiar with Kurzweil equipment, however I have owned a great deal of Yamaha equipment and currently own a Yamaha EX5. I cannot help you out on the comparison of Yamaha vs. Kurzwiel, however, I think for a minimal amount of money, you get quite a bit more in the EX5 rather that the EX7. So, if you decide to purchase Yamaha, you may want to consider the EX5 - last I checked the difference in price was less than $300.

Good luck and let me know what you decide.

Mike

Hi
I'm K2K user .it's voice architecture far beyond your imagination plus sample capability (k2k can read AKAI ,ENSONIC,AIFFand WAV format) .I think the most important feature for me is Control source Modulation .You can control ENV with LFO or MIDI CLOCK with AFTER touch ..it's up to you . If you want a complex synth K2K is your choice but you know.. it's take time in learning (I mean ...a lot )
