Yep, stayed on course with the S900. Picked up the only one around at a GC. Got an outstanding price on the floor model They are ordering a new one for me too!

I will be transferring all my custom settings this weekend. I tried to transfer all by USB stick in the 900 from my 3K, but it wouldn't recognize the styles.....here comes my incompetence in the days ahead. You'll probably be hearing requests from me.

Anyway, I'm going to delve into the world of vocal harmonizer (need to prove that I won't sound like a chipmunk). I've not put a mic through a board before.

I'm excited about exploring the new styles and sounds.

I play my last few 3K jobs today and tomorrow. I must say the 3K is a fabulous board and did a great job...I can only suspect the 900 will be even better.

Have a great weekend everyone

zuki

Hi Zuki,

Congrats on your new S900.

I had no trouble transferring my PSR-3000 styles and registrations to the S900.

Hope you get it cleared up.

Zuki,

Make sure you place the style files in individual folders; Swing&Jazz, Country, Dance, etc., on the USB drive. This must be done in order to avoid exceeding the USB drive's root directory of 70 files or folders. This may account for your problem.

Hope everything works out OK for you,

Gary

Congrats Zuki, I know that you will enjoy all the new features of the S900. Combined with your experience with the 3k, you should be the talk of the town. Good luck and God bless.

Fantastic Zuki! Go for it. I was surprised that a musician with your level of success and who gets so much joy out of playing would stick with the PSR3000.

What are you using for your case/gig bag?

Hey Zuki - congratulations on the upgrade. I may be doing the same thing shortly.

Please post your observations as you go through the process of moving your stuff across.

Be sure to read 184-190 of the S900 manual as this covers important VH settings, both editable (18) paramters (page 186-187) and mic setting VH Control settings. Be sure to set the "Vocal Range" (tracking) setting to: LOW, if you are a baritone-bass.

It's important to remember that the S900's VH PRESETS are merely that, presets, and that it's up to you to customize and create your own to best match your own unique voice, and then call up your own stored custom VH voice settings instead.

Thanks everyone

Beaky - case: just a cheap soft right now, but need to move to a nicer protective one - suggestions?

Sax - will let you know how easy it is to move things

Gary - thanks for the tips

Scott - good deal, I'll be experimenting tonight with that feature (at home that is)

Congratulations, zuki. I thought this was the most practical solution for you, backwards compatibility, and all...

Any comments about the action? Is it any crisper than the 3K?

Zuki, all the best to you with your new Yamaha, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. After reading your comments and as great a board as the G70( sounded like you were thinking about taking the leap to a G70) is the Yamaha is a great choice for you. Don't do what I did got myself both the G70 and the Tyros 2, I love 'em both so much I want to keep both.......but that remains to be seen. Hate to have that kind of cash invested when I'm only a part time musician. I also have a Clavinova CVP 307, that's not seeing much use since getting the G70.

Spent hours transferring - not a problem. It was nice to improve on a few styles too. What a joy to have compatibility in ones life

The harmonizer isn't bad. I'll add it to my act occasionally. It sure makes one think hard about singing on pitch

No time yet to fool with the audio recorder.

Diki - the keys remind me exactly of the 3K when first played. It loosened up a bit and I'm sure this will too. It suits me OK, but cetainly I'd prefer a G70 type bed.

Goodbye 3K - you were an awesome board.

Steph -

No way on 2 boards That would definitely cause a problem with decision making.

That parallels the years I wasted in my indecisiveness about playing "live" or "recording". I got nothing accomplished. So I decided to choose "live" and here I am.

I need to concentrate on one thing at a time. My m.o. is not suited for multiple tasks undertaking.

Good luck to you.

Zuki - Ditto. I thought about getting a Roland. Like you, I prefer to focus my brain cells on a single operating system. I have had several of their products in the past and loved them for sure. I've got a U-20 in the garage w/a couple of their super voice cards.

Which S900 soft case are you using and have you identified a potential upgrade for the case?

Randy

Guardian makes a lightweight hard case. It wouldn't fit in my trunk.

I use the Kaces 9kb case. For added protection, I put a stretch nylon keyboard cover over the keyboard when it is in the case, and on top of that I put a section of a foam mattress pad.

There's a smaller Kaces that might be a tighter fit. I pack a tupperware container next to my kb with a/c adapter, mic cable, and headset mic.

Larry, does your Kaces 9kb include a retractable pull out handle, or the newer (imo less desirable) fixed pivoting handle? I'm using a Kaces Porter 9KB for my Tyros2 too, and though it's a snug fit from front to back, and nice & fitting top-bottom with the foam pad placed on top, there still remains some extra space lengthwise. My chief complaint with my Kaces Porter 9KB is the pivoting fixed handle which bangs against my knuckles during transporting. I think the older style (now discontinued) retractable handle was far better designed.I used to own the older handle style 7KB which was a good fit (abeit very snug) with my PSR2000. Finding a keyboard case which nearly perfectlyl matches the dimensions of the keyboard remains a much appreciated a godsend.

I don't use a porter case with wheels. I put my case on my dolly to move it around.
