Originally posted by DonM: P.S. Hope I'm not making a BIG mistake. I do like the Tyros a lot. DonM, I sure hope (for your sake) that you didn't make a mistake either. As you already know, I auditioned the SD1 at great lengths (on several occasions) and though I was impressed by the 76 keys & keyfeel as well as its relative lightweight, it's all those exact same sized/shaped buttons lined up in a row & awkward OS navigation that really turned me off. In addition, the SD1's overall sound appeared (to me) a bit muffled and boomy to boot. Interestingly enough, Andrea Rotolo (Dreamer) who had owned an SD1, traded it in for a Tyros. He has stated that he was glad he switched to the Tyros because the Tyros has much cleaner voice samples, but also that the Tyros inspired his playing a lot more as well. Don, considering how much you still say you like the Tyros alot, why mess with a good marriage? I suppose you're looking for a little exotic action, right?. I'm anxiously looking forward to hearing your candid impressions re the SD1. Will this be a whole NEW love for you, or just a brief romp in the hay? Will you be soon crying for your Tyros to come back? Stay tuned folks. - Scott

I have liked the Ketron sound since I had the X1. I have had the Tyros for a year and I usually change about once a year. Hank the Lurker got a Midjay this week, and hearing it revived my interest. It so happened Dan had a used SD1 for sale, and it so happened a lady had recently heard me at a nursing home and told me if I ever wanted to sell the Tyros to let her know. Within about one hour, I made DanO an offer, made the lady an offer, and now I'm waiting for the SD1, which should arrive about Friday. I told the buyer here that she would have to wait until after my casino job Monday night to get the Tyros. My net dollar output will be zero. Also, she has a Roland G800 that she hasn't played much in the past couple of years (she also has a Cascio WK3500). I told her that I would post it for her in case anyone was interested. It is in real good condition. I know I will miss some of the OS features of the Tyros, and some of the sounds. I also know I will enjoy the 76 keys, the live-sounding drums and bass, and some of the other features of the SD1. If I don't like it well enough, it will be for sale soon! But I'm counting on my liking it. Scott, the new OS of the SD1 reportedly has added quite a few new sounds and "cleaned up" many of the older ones. We'll see! DonM

Hmmmmm, let's see - what will you GAIN? 1) Better vocals 2) Drums with different sizzle(maybe not "better", but really, really good 3) New, fresh feeling that only something "else" can give you 4) 76 keys with superior feel 5) Top notch SMF sound selection and midi playback What will you LOOSE? 1) Easy, easy, easy navigation 2) Fast SMF playback, with instant drum remix (SD1 comes close here) 3) Instant, easy resale to thousnds of buyers worldwide ** Head to Head - these two compete favorably. In Don's case ..... he gets restless after a year anyway, so it won't matter much how they compare. He'll play it - make oodles of money with it, then sell it down the road. That's my boy !

Yes, I have a great long distance telephone program, and I did talk to Eddie, but did not tell him about your new keyboard during our conversation. Gotcha! Gary
