Well, something really new in keyboard stands! Supposedly this stand can hold 220 lbs and it folds up in seconds.

In another forum it was commented that this is the perfect stand for aging rock n' rollers - after the gig the muso could use it as a walker...

Looks like it can also double as a bike carrier for my SUV

That just MIGHT have some merit for quick 1 hr jobs, where all I need is a mic boom. Wonder if you can attach additional gear? Hmmmmmm.....

It certainly has my attention. I need a place for the LT and mic though.

Looks really interesting. I suspect the (retractable?) V design would make it suseptible to keyboard bounce & wobble though. I hope George Kaye or any other NAMM attendees here would check this out at NAMM and report your findings. - Scott

I must agree with Scott on this one, it really does not appear to be very stable. George, let us know your opinion.

As for those of us who now categorized as aging, well, it would need a couple small wheels fer us old codgers.

Thanks Jim,

Gary

We can paint over it, or apply a sticker.

Cool! Let's put a 25cc motor on it, too.

All the Roland keyboards were placed on these new stands. The Retail Price is $239.00 and the MAP is $199.00.
The look is clean and I felt that the stability is very good. Roland claims it will support synths up to 88 keys and 125 lbs. The stand sets up and tears down in just 5 seconds and can acccomodate standing and sitting positions. The open floor-space design allows ideal placement of floor pedals. The stand weighs 19.75 lbs.

George, did they show any accessories, such as mic boom holder or extra shelf?
Thanks,

Roland's NAMM website is reporting that the V-Stand will have "multiple second tier options".

George,

Viewing the picture at the top of this thread, I'm not clear how this stand collapses. Are the two white tubes a retractable extension type with click-able lock points for different keyboard heights? How many fixed/variable heights can you set the keyboard to? Just how is this stand broken down for storage & transport? Do the upper tubes both retract or fold down to lie flat again the black V-Leg floor piece?

How would you compare the Roland V-Stand's stability (especially against bounce & wobble) with the:

Ultimate Support Apex Stand:

Quicklok QLX-21 (double braced) X Stand:

Quicklok M91 Monolith:

Thanks - Scott

I didn't spend enough time with the stand to see it fold up. I took the text right from Roland's dealer new product book. I did however feel that the stand seemed as stable as the Apex Ultimate Support product.
I also asked about a second tier and I was told it would come out in the future.

It appears that Ultimate Stands is making the V-Stand also, and in black! Reportedly it'll be available in March and will list for $299. Here's a shot of the stand folded up:

V-stand looks like an upsidedown something...
coment about Ultimate Apex: there`s no place to put a sustain pedal, I had to deal with it.

That new Ultimate V stand looks HUGE and bulky too. In the case, it looks as big as a kb!

Hmmm... both Ultimate and Roland stands look the same to me. Could it be that Roland is buying their stands from Ultimate and putting their logo on it??

It is hard to believe that Ultimate would let anyone else make same looking design. Look at their Apex stands, no other company offers a similar design.

Wow.... that look like the crappiest design ever... I cant tell from the photo, but it looks like the roland vertical bars telescope like a tripod, each leg adjusts individually, making it very difficult to make it exactly even.

And another thng is, where does all the weight go?... Right on the lover part of the V. Where is the lowest part of the V? Why right where the smallest part of the horizontal V! Thus making it very very easily to tip backwards at an angle. I have never seen or tried this stand before, but just lok at the pics, i cant even imagin it working for a tenth of the cost.

Phil
