Hi Simon,
Thank you for the info. on the PSR-2000.
I'm very interested in this board. I liked the 740, but this one seems to have many of the things the 740 lacked! Can hardly wait for it to reach the store so I can get my hands on it. But that will probably be sometime in late October! Anyway thanks Simon. Keep us informed.
All the best,
Nobby

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the review. One question: In your review the pic for the PSR1000 screen and the PSR2000 screen both show SCORE. Does that mean they both have the scoring capability unlike what the feature list has shown (that only PSR2000 has it)?
Personally, I feel both should have it as it is only a software issue, if they already don't. I believe that the PSR2000 should have been more different than the PSR1000, like maybe more polyphony (96 rather than 64). I hope that Vocal Harmony is more advanced than in the PSR740 too. To create a difference by not giving PSR1000 a software feature seems trivial, and irksome at most.

Thanks

Simon.....Thank you for your review of the PSR1000 & PSR2000 on your site.
I play a local friends PSR9000 every week and I dislike the cheap feel rubber buttons on the 9000 & 9000pro which the 740 did not have, pleased to see the 2000 has been improved.

My other annoyance of Yamaha Style files is the 2 bar loops which it appears most of the styles are. Technics & Roland are 4 bar loops which in my opinion is the lower limit. The best being the Korg with 8 & 16 bar Style loops.....Does the PSR2000 have better than 2 bar style loops?

When will manufactures learn that we do not wish to see the speaker cones through the grills, they do this with toys.

Simon, Thanks again for your input. Graham UK

Personnally, I don't care WHAT the speakers look like, as long as they sound good! Yamaha has always been fond of their cones for some reason. Since I discovered the "loop method" on my 9k - I'm enjoying the speakers to an even HIGHER degree. Monitoring has never been easier, or more versitile.

The 2 bar loops on the internal styles of the PSR's is not a limitation at all, and is just the way they were programmed. Its possible to create any number of bars you want in a style for any section, except the fills which require 1 measure. Although the PSR740 and models below do not offer any facility to change the time signature and number of measures in a style part (these are taken from the style you start with). It is possible though to create a style template on a pc midi sequencer which can have different time signatures or numbers of measures. By loading one of these style templates into the psr and then creating a style based on it, no longer are you imposed by 2 measures. I've created styles for the psr keyboards with up to 8 measures in the main sections and 4 in the intros and endings. Of course you can have even more, but you only have a restricted amount of memory in the psr for loading styles.
These templates are available at svpworld at http://www.svpworld.com/style_templates.htm

Regards
Simon

Simon......I fully understand what you are saying because you can program a style file up to 16 bars loops.

So why are Yamaha so mean in just giving the in built styles only 2 bar loops.......who said lack of memory?

so, if I convert a Roland or Korg style for use on a PSR, those converted styles will have 2 bars loop, or the 4 or more as in original Roland or Konrg format?

HI: Joseluis
If you convert the Korg, Roland, or witch
ever to PSR style you will have as many bar loops as the original.
Enjoying the 9000 PRO

Graham,
I posted earlier about using the loop Out and loop IN with an external mixer. This greatly enhances the versitility of the on board speakers as monitors.
Take the loop OUT - plug IN to a mixer channel. next........
Take the mixer outs, and plug back into the loop IN on the Yammy. This brings the keyboard signal into the speakers AFTER the mixer channel.
Now you can blend vocals, MD's, CD's whatever along with the keyboard sounds and feed them directly to a mixer in a PA.
You'll need a mixer that has more trhan one set of outputs to do this right, because the main mixer outs feed the PA and the aux mixer outs feed the KB speakers.
The main volume knob on the 9k now works a a monitor volume only. You can adjust any signal to the main, and keep the monitor volume separate. The manual shows a picture of this setup. It's a dream.

how big is the Seqencer...38,000notes?
and is the Editing on the 2000 the same on the 9000 pro?.

that's all and thanks to who ever will Answer.

vic,
I didn't ignore you, I just plain forgot! We don't know how big the sequencer is on the 2000 yet. Those specs are not yet available and I didn't look to see how big the seq. is on the PSR9000. I don't have an owners manual here at home and so I can't give you this number. Maybe Uncle Dave can look in his owners manual and let you know.

George,

The Yamaha 9000 Pro/PSR 9000's sequencer RAM size is 300 Kilobytes, approximately equals 38,000 notes maximum as vic indicated.
