A very close friend of mine asked me to find 16 meg RAM chip for WK8SE.
I was able to find it here in the US.
The problem is that there are two types.
One is parity (9 chip) and the other one is nonparity (8 chip).
We both do not know which one to use it with WK8SE.
He tried to contact GEM but could not get any response so far.
If any one of you knows for sure what type RAM chip needs to be used to upgrade the WK8SE, I would really appreciate the information.
Here are the two types I found:
16 MEG 70 NS 30 PIN parity - (9 chip)
16 MEG 70 NS 30 PIN nonparity - (8 chip)

Regards,

F. Kara

This one takes me back a bit and I could be wrong but as I recall, if you use a parity ram chip you should be safe on a PC I believe.

Usually systems that use non-parity chips will ignore parity if it exists. You should check with the manufacturer on this as my knowledge is for PC-MAC-AMIGA machines. Not arranger boards. Hope this helps.

Everyone, please correct me if I am wrong!

Thanks,

-Linda
