OK, get a pen...
Combinations..
1)
What you have to remeber here is that Combinations initially are groups of 8 programs with usually 8 matching MIDI channels. When you copy them into a song (Sequencer Drop Down Menu, Page 1) it will copy all 8 programs into Tracks 1-8 or 9-16. If your combination only uses.. lets say 3 programs, go into pages 2/3/(4)? and reset all your zoning, velocity maps, MIDI filters, ect for the extra 7.. This will allow you to use these tracks, instead of wasting them.
2)
Go to Page 7 and take a look at the FX Groupings. Then compare the sizes with the actual Combi's Insert sizes for each Timbre..
You'll have to Mirror the layout to get the exact sound.. (When you go into the FX for each track you can copy their settings from each timbre in the combi). It takes a few minutes and it's also very annoying!
A point to remember is that if the Combi in your sequence is tying up all 8 insert sizes, try to eliminate redundant FX like reverb and chorus.. ect. You can use the Master Effects instead and have free effects for other sounds in your sequence.
3)
Go to Page 8 Master Effects in your Sequence. Click the dropdown menu and select 'copy master effects'. Pick the Combination you were using, ect, ect and then click 'Yes'--'Are you sure?'-->'Yes'
Viola!
PROGRAMS
Luckily this only takes a few seconds..
-Set Pan, Send 1/2 to PRG 'program settings' -Set insert size to 4 for that track (Remeber, if the program only uses 2, then use 2)
-copy Insert Effects for that program. Make sure 'All' is checked
-Copy Master Effects for that program.
There you have it..
I should have written the manual...
Hope this babble helps you out..
Cheers.
