Hi all,
I have recently traded up to a KN5000. The manual refers to the Digitech workstation as an optional extra. My question is....Is this my only option?? OR will a Korg vocaliser or similar connect just as well?

Many thanks for any help
Tony

Tony,
Any harmonizer will work. I used a Digitech Vocalist II when I had a KN5000. All you do is assign the chord change midi channels where they match. As far as I could tell, the 5000 worked exactly the same way as the 2000 as far as the harmonizer was concerned.

Hi Tony. I do not know, but I would check the following. It could be that your styles send harmony program changes to the vocalist. If the program changes on the Korg are different than those on the vocalist, there might be mismatches between the style selected and the selected harmony. This problem could also apply to songs made for your keyboard. I do not know whether or not this is the case, just something to consider.

DonM is right. You just have to make sure the MIDI send channel on the KN's harmony parts match the MIDI receive channel on the harmonizer and you are all set.

Yes,
The response from Don and Paul are correct. All harmonizers work with any midi keyboard. However, the Korg ih vocal harmonizer has been discontinued this year. They do not make them anymore, however, their new i40m module and the keyboard version, the iS35 both have harmonizers in them. If you've read my new message, the new Solton X1 harmonizer works great, but can only be used in the X1 keyboard.

I loved the Kn5000...
Wonder if the Sx900 VH2 was updated?

Wow, that's a 20-year-old post. As far as I can tell, Yamaha harmonizers have still not caught up to where most were in 1999.
