Well got my first tune recorded with the new recorder the Tascam SX 1LE. It's called "Hard Wired" for any that care to venture a listen and comment.

Well Terry, it sounds like your not getting the 'play catch-up' sound, ie., "it sounds very natural and no kinks in it". Now the test would be to compare it with the Yammie, but I guess you traded that in already???
Anyway, it sounds good. Clean sounding, balance is right on, has a natural flow to it with no chunks in the Mix that I could tell. Looks like you have a winner. Too bad you had to re-finance the house to get it. $3,000 smackers, huh? That's the price of a Tyros and then some. I hope one of your relatives works at GC so you could get it at wholesale with an employee discount. If you got it online the same scenario applies also. If you got it on the black market you would be doing yourself a favor too. Nobody should have to pay $3,000 for ANY Hard Disk Recorder. And that goes for Bill Gates too. If you get buyers remorse Terry you could always exchange it for a Yamaha AW16G and save yourself $2,000 (after taxes) of that money you just spent. Here's a review of the AW16G by some guy who bought it: "This just replaced about a roomfull of reel-to-reels, rack effects, computers and guitar amps, not to mention the black speghetti covering the floor.
Sound quality is truly professional. the Quick Loop Sampler sounds are breathtaking. (I never say "breathtaking" about anything) I must say, however, and this may just be because I never owned a digital recorder before, that I had to read the manual. (I won't tell you how much reading I did, but I will say that the manual did reside in the bathroom for a while.) But I did manage to get a whole song mixed and burned to CD within two days of purchasing the unit. Controls now seem simple and quite logical. A wonderful machine. Thank you Yamaha."

Mike,
Thanks for the listen and feedback. So far the Tascam has been well worth the price of admission. This is a different level of recorder than the AW, it's definately a few steps up.

Hey Terry,
As always really relaxing tunes... Although it's time for another vocal CD? What do you think?

Terry,
I enjoy your work, but the use of pitch bend on a trumpet sounds unnatural to my ear. What you played would never be done on a real horn. At least not as drastic. The quality is up to your usual high standard, but I prefer acoustic instruments to emulate their natural playing limitations. Just a thought.

Hi Terry,

Very nice ! The quality of the Tascam is very impressive and ......the player too
I appreciate very much your work and your music .
Did you use a style from the Tyros for the background or did you made all the tracks (drums,bass,...)?
Go on , Terry ,
Best regards,
JJ

DJ,
Thanks, a little something to chill with at the end of the day. I have another vocal cd planned for the last 2 cds so one is in the wings, perhaps the next one.

Dave,
I appreciate the listen and feedback. Probably a bit unnatural on the horn, so some valid thoughts.

JJ,
Thanks you for the kind words. It's not a style. I did do individual tracks on all of it. the bass is my Chapman Stick played realtime,MotifES for the electric piano, Tyros for percussion and "sweet trumpet."

Hope you don't mind but I d/l'd "Knossos" to my favorites file of other's work.

Terry, on this one, I have to agree with Uncle Dave; the bend on the trumpet sounds strange to my ears. Trumpet players just don't do that (I'm not sure they even can do it if they wanted). Otherwise, really nice.

Tomcat,
Thanks for the listen....probably is undoable by a real trumpet player, that's why I hired that little guy inside the Tyros instead to lay in the track. He's much more versatile and doesn't lay around my studio smokin' rope and drinkin' beer until he can't play
