Wow ... these are tech terms. Most of us here are users, not engineers. Maybe someone has some experience in that area, but it ain't me - that's for sure ! What do I know from Diodes ???????

I had the power supply go out on my VA7, actually it burned, you could smell it. I had to have it replaced. I got the idea from the dealer that maybe they had had some problems with the power supplies in the VA7's.

If you are just talking about a rectifier diode this should be easy and cheap. You should be able to replace that diode yourself. Go to any Radio Shack and buy a four pack of 2.5 amp 1000 piv diodes. It will cost less than 5 bucks. When you replace the defective diode make sure the painted band on the diode is on the same end as the diode you replaced. It will need to be soldered in but that is very easy and cheap.

Don't you just LOVE people who can do this kind of stuff saying how 'easy' it is?!?!? It's like when my wife puts out an 8 course meal and says "oh, it's nothing!!!" ... If that's me with a burned out diode, whatever, that board is in a shop or visiting someone like Tom C. ...

Hello Velibor,

Here's a nice description of the diode.

Wasn't sure if this place is in the neighborhood.(?)

Good luck.

I'm also impressed by that fact that Velibor knew it was the diode. Good detective work.
