I am new to recording on a PC. I would like to know if anyone could tell me what i need to set my keyboard to go to the PC. Do I need a midi interface? or can I run a midi cord to the soundcard?

Hi grobshnit:
all you need to connect you x3 to the pc is a midi cable and a music software (cakewalk is the best for this job). you don't really need a midi interface. also make sure that the midi cable has an adapter that can be connected to your sound card/joystick port. when you are working with cakewalk then you should load the inst. definetion for the x3. also, when you save your SMF to floppy disk, make sure that it is a 2DD not a 2HD.Remeber that the floppy disk drive in the x3 dose not take high density disks. You can use the floppy that came with your keyboard or you can play right from your pc.
hope that this will help you
