I currently have an X3, but I'm considering trading it at a pawn shop for an N364. The only thing keeping me from it is the fact that there's some sounds on the X3 I really like that aren't on the N364. Is it possible at all to copy the sounds I like from the X3 over the N364? Thanks.

Yes. the Nx64s accept all of the x series sounds, plus it has about 2mg of extra samples.
A friend of mine who owns a x3 tells me that my n364 sounds better than his x3, but I don't think so. The N364 is basically a slightly upgraded version of the X3, the upgrade is geared towards electronica.
What type of music are you planning on creating?

I'm mainly doing electronic stuff, so I guess the upgrade would fit what I'm doing. And I posted the message before I had really gone all the way through the sounds of the N364 and noticed that it has 2 Combination and 2 Program banks of the exact sounds that are on my X3. So I guess copying them over isn't something I'd need to do anyway except for sounds that I've edited. Thanks a bunch though.

Once you do get the N364 I'd like to know exactly which sounds are different, and if you think that the sound cuality is better.
Thanks

Id owned an N364 for about a year before selling it. I must tell you if you are planning to do electronica type music then you might want to consider a workstation with realtime controllers, ribbon controllers or something that is easy to program. The N364 does NOT offer this. Plus the basic programs are mundane.

It has about 500 hammond sounds, 200 piano sounds, the synth sounds are too "digital" and the drums are less than desirable.
Some of the set-ups are cool, but you have to use 8 tracks just to record one set up, no matter how many layers they are. The effects are too subtle to even distinguish the difference.

You might want to consider others like Kurzweil K2000/2500, Korg Triton or even Trinity.

The presets are horrible, but if you are the type of person who likes to make his own sounds then the N364 can pump out some pretty cool sounds.
The organs, eletric pianos, pads, and clavs are good.
The synths are digital sounding, but because of that I can create some neat sounds. The effects sound good, I don't know how you could not hear them Chris.
I don't think that the drums are that bad either, as long as you have time to create your own sounds.

The basic idea is that if you want the N364 to sound good you're going to need to program alot of the sounds yourself, but if you don't have the time and have the money, get a better keyboard.

Well, I already have a JX-305, so I'm not really looking for something that'd give me more interesting synth sounds. With the N364 I was hoping I could get more ambiences, like strings, pads, ect. More fuller and lucious sounds. Plus I'm still looking for a realistic piano sound. Thanks for all the info.

Cre8or, you present a thought that many others have given me as well. There is the possibility that the N364 I had might have had defects.

When I would change an effect, it would default many times back to reverb. Not to mention that when changing effects, I would get pops and hisses. So there might have been a problem with the workstation.

Chris- I think you did have a faulty machine. Mine never does that.

Asbestos- I really doubt that you'll get a good piano sound out of the N (no one has yet), I think that it's basically the same as the x3.
