Hello Heinrich,
I noticed you mentioned emc and I assume you're referring to Styleworks software.

Have you seen their latest software called Stylefactory, It's phrase based ie mix them up , & create new style from the phrases.
You basically build up a phrase library Instead of converting a complete style, the program breaks a style up into phrases. All the usual keyboards supported
Ketron, Yamaha, Roland , Korg etc
Don't know if it would work with a midjay?

best wishes

I have never created a custom style from scratch in my life....no need to, there are so many thousands of styles out there to convert, edit, etc. to suit my needs.....plus you can also convert a SMF to STYLE with EMC if needed for a specific song.. not that I couldn't create one, just that the need for it never arose.

good luck

thanks for the hint with style factory. I forgot to say that I wanted to use the midjay as well for song writing purposes, first rough draws, then use the midi, get rid of the sys excl. data (all via laptop)and mix it finally down with the motif es. Sounds complicated, I Know. Another simpler option is a psr3000 only. Arranger, sequencer, all inside. But will it sound anywhere near a motif es (bass and drums are important to me)? Anyone, who has done some nice demos only with the help of the psr 3000? Or are you guys more convinced of the midjay when it comes to sound?

Best regards

Heinrich
