Hi DNJ.
Select a style first then press the digital recording button then style creator lcd button. I think you then select the section and part you want to create. I can remember where it says assembly, this lets you combine the styles elements then you can use these to create your own new styles. I've not created any new ones for a while and I'm not in front of my T2 now, but it does tell you this in the instruction book under style creator heading.
Hope that helps, it's quite easy once you've tried it and you can get some good styles going off

I don't think you can change the actual intro/ending from one style for another, you can however change the drum set used for into/ending/fill ins and variations etc. and other things like bass sound, chords......
I've just taken the Hard Rock style, swapped all the drums to the Rock set and then changed the rhythm1 to the cool8beat drum sounds which completely alters the style.
It know has more of a ballsy feel to it with lovely sort of bongo sounds coming in lmao - Sound funny typing but it's ideal for Summer of 69. I've also changed the guitar sound on the intro and ending to the distortion one, a damn site better. I'll send it you lot on Skype after tea. I'm in tweaking heaven again so I may be gone for some time hehe

Actually, you can take any intro, fill, break and ending and copy it from one style to another. There's an entire lesson on how to do this at the PSR-tutorial site, and it is all done right on the keyboard. Really not difficult at all and I've done it dozens of times.

Good Luck,

Gary

It looks like Roland does this better..besides changing just the drums and other instruments,,you can swap around any segment of a style..acc 1-6, bass line, intros, endings and fills..Also different divisions[maj,min,7th]..
This can be done even on my oldie keyboard[G1000]..

I always liked to use a boogie bass line with a big band pattern..

The VA series made it quick and easy with morph feature ..all in realtime...
I believe the G70 still has this feature..I know it has the Cover feature that works with SMF and styles..
Maybe Yamaha will catch up someday!!

Hi DNJ

I do this all the time. Unfortunately it is quite technical and time consuming, as you have to copy each part of each section separately. On the PSR 8000, you could take an ENTIRE section and copy it all in one shot.

hey Fran, could't the MZ-2000 do that as well. I may be wrong, but when I had it I remember playing with the style recorder and swaping parts from one style to the next.

With the keyboard's onboard style creator, you can change any aspect of a style file--ANY! Unfortunately, like most keyboards, including Fran's G-1000, the instruction manual is not well written, therefore, you have to spend some time learning the intricacies and operating system of the keyboard in order to perform the various tasks. The onboard programs are probably a bit too versitile, and often do more things than anyone can imagine. Consequently, in addressing the wants and needs of consumers, programers, engineers and designers fail to realize that musicians and entertainers are not all high-tech computer programmers. As this technology advances, we, as consumers, will constantly face increased technological challenges that all too frequently are not addressed by user manuals. Fortunately, folks like Joe Waters, Michael Bedesem, and a long list of other very talented individuals, have provided programs and information that make these technological advances more palatable.

Cheers,

Gary
