I just happened to be working out the kinks with Sound Forge and my Mia 2496 card. Finally got it to work right.

Anyway, while I am testing I am recording off a local radio station. A commercial starts, and lo and behold, I recognize an arranger keyboard style.

It's the first one I've heard, but Jen, who listen's to more radio, has heard some before, including on Muzak at Sears!

At first I thought maybe Technics or Yamaha. It's sometimes hard to tell with all the converted styles I've got. But I think it is a Korg. I am going to presume it's the new PA1X, although I've never heard one live.

What do you think?

It's on the lower left hand corner of my demo page. Don't know how else to put it online.

It's listed as "Commercial mp3."

Scott,
I can't tell you which arranger (if any) was used to record that commercial.... but I can tell you one thing for sure:

That commercial made me hungry!!

Cheers
A.

I don't recognize it as any style from the PA series. I have the PA80, not the PA1x, but I have the PA1x`styles converted for the PA80. The styles are very close between the two, datawise, except that there are a few new ones on the PA1x.

It sounds like it could be an arranger. (especially the brass part) It could have been recorded using an arranger with an edited style.

This is a Korg PA1X I think, or maybe another model, but definitely a Korg, I have this style in my PA-60, its called "FastBigBand".

Does that mean Korg will want royalty payments?

I guess I don't pay enough attention to the big band styles on my PA80 LOL. Scott and Wazza both get the prize. They are right. I just listened to the style and that's it .. no doubt in my mind.

I'm actually mildly surprised because I never use thi style but unlike most styles I don't use, this one hasn't been replaced by something else... yet.

Interesting. I found the Korg style in question, plugged it into my Tyros and the commercial is almost if not all intro, variation, ending. No right hand except for maybe one or two short horn licks. And I mean short. Maybe actually some fill-ins, I didn't really check those.

It sounds good, don't get me wrong. I just wonder how much this guy is making for a 60 second spot.

Does the Korg PA50 have identical tone to the PA80? Or is it a similar tone as in the PSR3000 compared to the Tyros?

the tone is identical(triton board)(exact board-80/60/50).unlike tyros/3k.
but 80's onboard speakers are better and louder too.
