Hello everyone,

I have a feeling that maybe I am the only one making custom styles and samples on the sd1. If there is at least one more person who is doing the same stuff I am doing please let me know, because I am running into alot of stupid things in this keyboard. If I am changing things in my user drum kit and when I go back to pattern edit the keyboar is not functioning properly. This keyboard works and operates okay if you use its preset styles and sounds. But if you want to program any thing or change stuff in the styles or sounds it really is a nightmare to work with, and it gets very frustrating.
I am just about to give up on it. If any body else is doing what I am doing and has no trouble with the software please let me
know, may be a have a defective sd1.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Sev01,

I have been able to create some custom styles from scratch and they seem to work ok ... just need some minor volume adjustments when I done.
I also sampled with the sampler and edited existing samples in order to syncapate the wave file(s) with the arranger and some midifiles and these worked ok (within certain tempo ranges).
Send me an email with your specific issue(s) and steps to create them and we can see if it's a 'slip' or a defective SD1!

Thanks.

AJ

Hello Dan01, Ketron AJ,

Thanks for your respose. Eventhough I don't have the proper manual for this keyboard I have managed to make custom styles and multisamples on this keyboard. Yes I do press save/enter when make certain changes to my styles, but that has nothing to do with pattern edit mode. I never said you cannot make your own styles and samples from scratch on this keyboard. My concern is when you are so much involved in programming and editing the software is not stable. For instance I was recording my bass line in the pattern edit and I first didn't notice I had the modulation knob turned up. So the recorded bass line had modulation in it which I didn't want. I erased the bass line and turned down the modulation knob all the way to make sure it is not going to record modulation again with the bass line. The keyboard still thinks the modulation knob is turned up and keeps recording modulation on the bass line. There is alot of other silly things that this keyboad is doing when you are programming styles and samples. With the sampler, I loaded my drum loop which is a wave file from the floppy on to the sampler, and looped it and saved it into my multisample in the keyboard, and it kept on playing it half way and I had to go back and reloop it, the problem was the ending of the sample keept jumping back about half way and the drum loop sound half missing. There is alot of other malfunctioning if I talk about will take a lot of time a space here.
The bottom line is I have a good feeling there is some bugs in the software. And trust me I am familiar with alot of functions in this keyboard. I have been involved with arranger keyboards for over ten years. The sd1 is a good keyboard but has a lot of weaknesses specially with the operating system. There is a lot of limitations in style edit which they call pattern edit. For instance if you have some variations recorded you can't erase a certain part of it like bass, drum, chord 1 and so on, you can only erase the whole variation or hold down the erase button and erase manually which is very time consuming. There is no copy measure, delete measure, erase measre, event editing and some other useful features to make life easy while making styles. I still think my korg i3 is very powerful when it comes to editing styles and programs, but not soundwise.
