As someone who lives in Hawaii and saw Mr. Waikiki many times live and even interviewed him for a magazine...
he was truly one of the greats and the very best
in showing Aloha! We are all very saddened and will miss him.

Aloha

Years ago in the 70's on a trip to Hawaii they brought me up on stage with Don Ho and I actually sang Tiny Bubbles with him & his Band at the Polynesian Palace...a great entertainer & always will be a true legend & a Class act!!

TOM PATRICK.....I didn't read the post but saw your request to have the comments removed and I must assume that they were negative or derogatory and I want to thank you. Don was a very good friend of mine for a number of years and we shared many hours on stage
together at "DUKES" with the Aliis and I will miss him even though I will have many good memories of him that we shared. I tried to find an e-mail address for you on your profile but there wasn't any. I agree with your statements. How long have you lived in Hawaii and what do you do there? I lived and performed there for over 8 years and I am saddened by Don's passing and feel Hawaii's loss, however as Don used to sing,
"I WILL REMEMBER YOU"
Aloha and Ma-halo....

Tony,

It is always sad when someone famous or close to us passes away. I must say however that I never consideded Don Ho much of a singer. I'm not sure how he got to be so famous, maybe he was a fantastic entertainer. I thought most of the time he sounded drunk slurring his words and sliding from note to note.

Let the hate mail begin!

Tom

Tom, No hate mail, and you are correct, he wasn't a great singer however his stage presence and his charisma was equal to any I've known....he didn't have to be a great singer, he knew how to entertain an audience. He had people lined up to get near him.....and I feel fortunate to have shared many hours on and off stage with him.
He was the best thing to happened to Hawaii since Pineapples....

Aloha Tony,

Back in the day when I worked with American Hawaii Cruises I first met Don and gave him one of my CD's
and asked for his thoughts and advice... he was very free with advice and helped not only me but MANY up and coming performers here in the islands and around the world. And I'll always remember one of the things he said to me... "Always remember Tommy if you love them (the audience)... they'll love you!" He was not the best singer or player but the Aloha came from every fiber of his being... he was an excellent showman and truly a 'nice guy'.

Aloha Don... can't wait to get up there and see you
lead the gang in 'Tiny Bubbles' at the great Luau in the sky!

Tony please see my email... BTW loved Sinatra as you in the movie!
