Hi Dennis,
I use it a bit. Anything in particular you're wanting to know?
I run a stylemaking group at Yahoo http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/makingstyles/
A few of the members have it. Not sure about any tutorials or helpfiles though.

best wishes
Rikki

hi rikki,
yes i am trying to figure out how it does the style from a midi file, and there is no help files to suggest how its done (even though you can't in the demo, a help file would let you know if its going to work for you)...

Hi Dennis,
I've really only ever tried it with midifiles created from BIAB or a style that I'd saved as a midifile. Haven't really tried it with song type midifiles that have chord progressions.
Basically just a case of loading in the midifile & choosing the tracks & sections of the song you want to use for your style.
Midifiles don't always make good styles though.
Basically it works along similar lines to OMB's midi to style function.

I'll see if I can find my EMC manual, though I can't remember reading any specifics on how to do midi to style.

I mainly use the software as an editor for my sd. It has a midi import /export function.ie I can export an sd style
(converted or original) as a midifile into a pc sequencer, do any required editing , & then import it back into EMC & save as an sd style.

Hi

You could try my midi2style software instead. It is well documented with help file and getting started manual.
Go to http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/midi2style/index.htm (all is free)

thanks for the link jorgen, i will do that...one thing though, i have a ketron sd1+..will it still work? although the emc can convert styles from and to, so maybe it would be a 2 step process??? anyway i will still check out your program..
cheers

Hi Dennis,
can I make a suggestion.
Are you familiar with midi to style in OMB? or if you prefer, check out Jorgens midi to style software.
Try converting one of your midifiles to psr format, & see how it sounds played via OMB with Ketron as soundsource.
It will give you a rough idea on how it will sound.
If you then want to go a step further, you could then use EMC Style convert, or, did you realize you can record styles via midi using a pc sequencer. It's a bit more complicated but it does work. You can record a complete style part at a time.
Basically a case of midiing your sd to a pc
& playing the style parts across in realtime.
You'd still basically need to use midi to style first to get rid of chord progressions in variations.

thanks rikki, that was my intended plan...record the midi to a yamaha style, and then convert it via the emc...will have to see if it works....its not a major issue, and i can still continue to work with the midi file, but it would be nice to create a style for them too..

Hi Dennis,
I haven't had much luck with EMC manual.
Might be worth asking at the Ketron group if anyone has a copy of the manual, some of the members do have the software.

If you get a chance, check out Page 66 of the SD1 manual, midi recording of patterns.
It's what I was reffering to in the prior post.

Hi Dennis

I am pretty sure that a lot of our users have and use EMC very effectively....It would be to your advantage to pursue this

Hi Dennis
I've just picked up on your request. I use EMC quite a bit to convert midi files to Style files. Send me a sample that you want converted and I'll sort it for you at the same time describing how I do it.
RMepstead@btinternet.com
p.s. remind me when you send one that you want it converted for Ketron SD1

Yes, Korg has made the "Style to Midi / Midi to Style Conversion Tool" which you can download for free at korgpa.com . There are two separate versions: One for the Pa800/Pa1x and one for the Pa80/Pa60/Pa50.

Kind regards,
Tommy

Just click on “Download page” at the top left of the window, and then choose the program you require.
Hope this helps

For me, it's a little extra work to use the Korg ( free ) style conversion kit as opposed to using the auto convert features of EMC, but based on the other EMC Korg conversions I've used, in the end I seem to get a better conversion with the Korg conversion software.

There was also a free Yamaha to Korg style auto conversion kit available on the Irish Acts forum a few years back. Not sure if it's still there, but I probably still have a copy buried on a CD somewhere here if anyone is interested.

To convert to Yamaha SFF, I've also always been able to do pretty well with both Jorgen's and Michael P Bedesem's free conversion apps, as well as OMB. The Casio MZ2000 has it's own auto convert function inside of the board, ( it works quite well ) but it only works with Roland and Technics based styles.
