Hey ive been playing keyboard for a while and i'm looking to buy a arranger keyboard. i need some help on which one to buy. i've been told that the following were some good choices, but i've never actually tried any of them...
1. Korg pa-80 (or 60)
2. Roland G-800(or 1000)
3. Yamaha psr 2100

Are these any good? if anyone can help, or anyone knows of any other arranger keybaords which are better than these or whatever, pleease post. THANX

Where do you live my friend ?
Any music stores around ? If so , you probably will not see a G800 around .

I would rank the Yamaha over the Korg . Technics KN2600 should be looked at !

To better help you, we need to know:

1) What style (genre) of music you're into playing most
2) Onboard sequencer requirements (if any)
3) Vocal harmonizer needs (if any)
4) Your budget

OK i guess i needa give a little more info. Im looking to spend up to $1500 ( hopefully less). I have no idea what an on-board sequencer is...so i guess it makes no difference whether i have on or not. I wanted to know if its worth it to buy the pa-80? is it that much better than the pa-60? and with the yamahas- is the psr 2100 any good (by "good" i mean good sounds, good accomp., good beats) are there other psr's which are worth buying which are better than the 2100? the rolands seem pretty hard to find so whatever.

Grubba99: Interesting that people seem to frequently confuse the name Steve with my name (Scott) as well.

BTW: I just noticed on a 'separate' thread:
http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/007705.html

that you ALREADY own BOTH the PA-80 and Yamaha PSR2100. Maybe you can convince Fran Carango to sell you his G-1000, and then you'll have 'all' three in your list and tell 'us' which one you think's the best.

Hi,

The differences between pa80 and pa60 are:

pa80: 4 outputs, vocal harmoniser option, flash card option, 2 x 22 watts, sampling function, user installable hard disk.

pa60: 2 outputs, no vocal harm, no flash card, 2 x 15 watts, no sampling, hard disk by korg more expensive.

Pa80: great keyboard but! after 2 years I have to admit that there is a structural problem in some styles (no natural fills, no natural pass from one variation to another). This is for me the only (but great) problem with pa80.

If you have no problem with a bad key feel, then probably the psr 2100 is the best choice.

Go and listen and good luck

STAM

Well Scott, You finally caught me! Nothing gets past you guys, i see. Time for some confessions...It was me that stole your lunch in grade 2. (heh just kiddin) no but i must confess. This thread is the truth!About the one where i said i own the psr and the korg- I needed something to spice up my reply. I needed the readers to be able to relate to me! i couldnt write "i once heard of a psr 2100" could i? what kind of a lousy reply is that?! so i wrote "i own the 2100".
but for your perceptiveness(is there sucha word???) and ur detectiveness (definitely no such word!), i hereby award you with the-

Well to be honest, in this music biz, I've had to learn to deal with all types which have included: rude drunk patrons, self proclaimed vocalists/musicians who continually beg to sit in, sleazy club owners who won't (can't) pay even though they signed a contract, self professed talent agents who claim they have all the right connections to make you a world famous star, etc etc. You quickly learn to develop the intinct to weed out the frauds.
