Hi to all, Mr Lenny Dee, one great organist pass away, here is the link: http://www.sptimes.com/2006/02/13/Southpinellas/_Mr_Entertainment__di.shtml

I enjoy his recordings, he had a technic similar to Mr. Les Paul in the guitar, using the tape echo, and some special aditaments to his Hammond model A.

When I was in high school( about a hundred years ago) I worked part time as a radio announcer at Providence, RI station WPRO-FM. In the 60s and early 70s we played a music format that was called MOR (middle of the road) At the station we had quite a few Lenny Dee albums and his music was frequently played on the station.

I'm originally from Florida and in the 70's I used to drive to St. Pete to catch Lenny at Lenny Dee's Den. I picked up a lot of pointers from him. He will be missed.

RIP, Lenny Dee. I'm down here vacationing in St. Pete's Beach and his old Lenny's Den of the 70's is now a Walgreen's, but the Bilmar resort motel is still there across the street.

I remember sitting at a Hammond M-3, which had a record player next to it (obviously, this was at home, and I was about 12). I literally wore out Lenny's "Golden Organ Favorites" album, tried copying what he did note for note. Godspeed Lenny....they must have needed an organist in Heaven.

I was in the St. Pete area for a number of years working in the home organ industry. It was a shame that he just couldn't find work anymore for what he did.

On a TV interview he actually begged for work. He also sold some of his organs just because he needed the money. If I remember correctly it was the Technics line that he had later become associated with.

cassp: I performed at the Bilmar on trumpet with a big band. They used to have a dixie band there twice a week.

Wow, Scott I probably heard you there. Back around '79, when my wife and I had little ones, we'd go down to the beach bar on Tuesday and Friday and enjoy the Dixieland band.

Today the Bilmar is HUGE. We've driven by it a few times in the last two weeks. My wife and I want to eat at Sloppy Joe's or go to the beach bar before we leave on Wed. Are you nearby? I'll buy you a drink.
