I have a style that sounds 100 bpm when the keyboard is at 50 bpm. I am trying to figure out a simple way to fix this. How can I change all note values to be half their original value?

I tried using Style Time Editor 1.1 to change the time signature to 2/4 (original is 4/4). The trick seemed to work except that the Yamaha style playback doubles the tempo automatically when switching from a 4/4 style, which defeats the purpose of what I was trying to achieve.

Any ideas and tips are greatly appreciated.

I can only suggest a computer approach.

Because Yamaha files are just re-named SMFs, you can open them in any Midi sequencer. Several good ones offer a 'half-time, double time' option. If you want to have the style play at the correct tempo (although, if it works, why mess around?), you'll need to edit them this way....

Does anybody have any recommendation for a sequencer that will open the file without messing up the CASM section...

The reason I don't want to "leave it alone" is because I need to switch to it from a different style during playback, and the speed has to match of course.

Which sequencer has this "half-time" feature?

I know Cubase can do it... (use the Logical Editor and divide or multiply 'Position' by 2).

I would assume that most of the majors have a similar process...

You might try the utility Style Adjust available at www.svpworld.com/beta.

It allows you to scale the timing (time between notes and note durations) and the tempo independently.

To Install:

Download StyleAdjust102.zip, unzip and doubleclick on Setup.exe.

Then download StyleAdjust_Update 113.zip, unzip and copy the files to the C:\Program Files\Style Adjust folder.
