I've used at least 6 different mics on the 2000. They all work o.k. once you adjust them. If I'm using external mixer, I use a phantom-powered Beta 87. If not I usually use SM58, or a Behringer "clone" of it. I've also used Shure Beta Green condenser, EV condenser and Yamaha hi-impedance.

To all who gave me advice on this. I found my problem. It was the mike cord. The reason I didnt think of it sooner is because the mic works okay with my PA head. The 2K must be more sensitive to improperly grounded cords.
