Hi all, how can I make my roland PK-5 midi pedal to work with PSR-2000? I intend to to use PK5 to control the AutoAccompaniment section(Start/Fill in A/B/C/D/Ending).If this is possible, how do I go about doing all those settings on both PK5 and PSR2000?Also, what other useful function on the PK5 can I use with my PSR2000.(I don't know much about midi channels Tx/Rx & all those complicated stuffs)

Wayne,
I've moth balled my PK-5, but I was thinking along the same lines.

If anyone can help, we sure could use your expertise.

Siahwayne & Cass:

As I outlined on a separate thread http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/006425.html here's the answer to (possibly) getting your Roland midi controlled PK-5 foot pedal unit to trigger the PSR2000's arranger functions. This will be possible if the PK5 is capable of sending to the PSR2000 the following midi messages:
Midi Messages (taken from page 33 of PSR2000 Data List Manual):

Start: FAH
Continue: FBH
Stop: FCH

and also programmed to send the following SysEX strings to the PSR2000 (taken from page 44 of Yamaha PSR2000 Data List Manual):

Section Control:

FO 43 7E 00 ss dd F7

ss:
OOH: Intro A
01H: Intro B
02H: Intro C
03H: Intro D
08H: Main A
09H: Main B
0AH: Main C
0BH: Main D
10H: Fill in AA
11H: Fill in BB
12H: Fill in CC
13H: Fill in DD
18H: Break Fill
20H: Ending A
21H: Ending B
22H: Ending C
23H: Ending D

dd:
OOH: Switch off
7HF: Switch on

You must also remember to assign the midi transmit/receive channel on both the PK5 & PSR2000 to the same channel.

I hope this helps. Good luck and please keep me posted.

Scott

Hi Scott ,I saw your reminder in my mailbox, very thoughtfull, thank you very much.I tried all settings on all channels today but no luck.As I have mentioned earlier I don't know much about midi configurations, how do I go about programming and sending those midi messages(in hexadecimal)? The only thing I can do with midi is to control psr2000 with my roland RD-150(and thats all I know).I am a total novice to midi, pardon me.Inside PK5 user manual,it mentioned something about user settings and program change function but I still cannot figure out what can I with all these.I know I sound stupid but I hope to learn more about midi from u guys.
regards
