I'ts a great sounding system. It is much louder than the 300, which has been a very good seller, but the big difference is the internal digital reverb. It is Yamaha's best!
There is also phantom power and one more stereo keyboard channel. The speakers are 10" rather than 8". The only negative is that the 300 packs up into a single roll around case and the 500 needs two!

The 300 serves me very well. I love the mixer tucked inside the speaker cabinet - no need to take it out.

I played an outside gig last week and really cranked the baby - it was awesome sounding.

I don't require a carrying case. The built-in handles are fine and easy to carry one in each hand.

My next purchase would definitely be the 500
